If you look at the fine print for your iphone data plan it includes mms messaging..

Not here in the UK it doesn't. Many providers, UK or not have even go so far as to block MMS entirely. So even if you tried to use a 3rd party mms app (For jailbroken phones) like Swirly MMS, it likely still won't work properly.

I do hope Apple are indeed going to provide their own MMS app.
In the mean time, for all those that want it, it won't hurt to pester Apple and let them know!

I would be happy enough if they just provided a link to pictures you receive and the link it takes you too has the picture as an actual picture that you can save (not flash like when you view viewmymessage.com on a PC), I don't care too much about sending MMS but a lot of my friends still send me stuff.

that's an interesting quote... I've got a jailbroken iphone with MMS working on t-mob and orange... so "many" providers must be o2 themselves and vodafone....

Here in Australia I believe that all carriers support MMS also (let me know if I'm wrong though). It would be weird if a carrier did decide to block MMS' though. I don't imagine how they would justify it as a good business decision (maybe only to save money??)

Why would you quote it? Still, O2 being the official iPhone carrier in the uk and being known to block MMS makes it quite significant. Vodaphone is also a significant provider in the UK so that already makes MMS blocking is enough of a problem. And thats just in the UK. Plenty of overseas providers are doing the same unfortunately.
