Ok, one more guess here:

You know that MMS requires setting up a whole bunch of parameters (MMSC, proxy, etc.. There are usually sent by the provider via a configuration SMS on regular phones.

Would it be possible for any of the people not seeing the camera icon to put the SIM card inside another phone and make sure you are able to send/receive MMS? You might use another phone to configure your MMS parameters and then put back your card into the iPhone. Just a thought.

I haven't installed 3.0. It's sitting right here in front of me and I'm not sure if I should install it or not, since this is my main an only phone.

My main iPhone too - software seems fine really. A few glitches, no show stoppers.

MMS works for sure - tried a different phone. O2 enabled it - just say you're using another phone at weekends or something. They're fine with it.

You put in your mobile number and that's it.

I have an AT&T sim at home that I will try. Hopefully this is not the case.

not any better across the ocean here too in the uk. o2 has a so-called "dedicated" iphone tech support team that reads out a manual each time you raise a question and gets furious when they themselves don't know the answer.

I was very polite:

My friend is with O2 as well and I would like to send some picture messages when I go out at the weekends, using my old [insert phone name]. He also has an iPhone but your support team kindly enabled MMS on his account for this. bla bla

Anyway, I know MMS works on my contract, but the settings probably aren't right on the phone.

It also doesn't paste into the MMS text area like the demo.

Hi all,

I noticed the same behaviour. I use my iPhone 3G with Wind (Italy). I do not have the picture button, probably Apple still does not have my carrier settings.

I hope we will soon find a way to (manually?) add them.

what? i can't name one single network operator that doesn't support mms. maybe apple's still getting it to work right now? but honestly mms settings is quite complicated.

Apple is a company of perfectionists. For example, they were well due in implementing Copy/Paste, and it's been a few years, but the UI they use for it in 3.0 is phenomenal! It's always worth the wait with Apple IMHO, they execute things perfectly, and the wait is always worth it. I'd rather have no MMS for now than a flawed MMS in the future.

I am running a 3g 3.0 on TMobile (Germany) and have no camera icon in Messages. I thought I was going crazy not being able to figure out how to send MMS. Glad I'm not the only one with issues. FYI, MMS was actually on by default in Settings.APP for me.

its not going to happen

ok heres the thing everyone... you are able to put the new 3.0 OS on your iphone... the thing is your not going to get the capabilities to mms with it until at&t lifts the block they have on mms.... this will not happen before june 19 when they release the new phones... jsyk f*** at&t :D:apple:<3
