Nothing is slower than being stopped by a total inability to do something.

So even Flash lite is handy to me:

I like being able to see Flash based restaurant menus. Even if a bit slow at times, it beats the heck out of not seeing anything at all.

Yep. Instead we get to hopefully remote desktop to a real computer that has flash so we can do whatever it is we need to get done. Oh yeah, that experience is SO much better than if we just had some version of flash on the damn phone or iPad.

While we're pretending to argue about something that will never exist anyway, why do people continue to think that adobe (or whomever) would just take a computer version of flash and drop in on an iPhone and it would be equally slow, buggy or whatever else they yap about when they complain about a product that doesn't exist? Seriously, if you can spout nonsensical hyperbole like that with a straight face, you should be working in politics. Or running Apple.

That's all so great but I still would want the ability to choose if I want flash or not. Jobs was right but until HTML5 becomes the standard and most sites use it then it flash will be needed and this argument will continue.

This.

I would like the option, a lousy implementation is better than none at all if it can be turned off. They could easily bury the feature in the menu if they want to protect the idiots who won't know where their battery life has gone.

+1. I'd still enjoy having the ability to use it. I'm sure nobody expected flash to work very well at all on a mobile device.

Right or wrong - I think Apple is in the right here to push HTML5 over flash. I have a decent scar from falling asleep with my MBP one night in December using the Hulu flash based website.

Battery life and heat issues are key to the new iPhone 4 and and iPad to be able to lead in battery life. And I can only wonder what the heat issues using Flash has done to the life of my MBP.

Big surprise, Flash sucks. I know i'm shocked by this bit of breaking news. C'mon Adobe, just kill it already.
