I like this woman but she's had this machine 5 minutes.... It reads more like a first impressions than a full review. Im happy about Apple embracing the current standards over the legacy standards.

In my experience if I don't hit the keyboards with more travel in exactly the right spot they don't register the click. I'm not a heavy presser when I type. I like to barely touch the keys at all when I type. The MacBook style keyboard allows for this. I suspect Apple will perfect the keyboard even more into the future. For now I'm much more happy with the keyboard on my rMB than I am with the keyboard on the 15" 2015 MBP issued to me at work.

How much more time do you need? Especially for a product that does exactly the same as the previous version (there are no "new features" to get used to here - except for the keyboard (somewhat) and the bigger track pad).

I wish she spent more time on comparing it to other alternatives, but that has nothing to do with the time she has had with the new MBP.

Lisa is spot on on the keyboard. I cannot imagine using that thing 8 hours a day. I tried this flat keyboard for a few days on the rMB and do not want to repeat that experience.

The keyboard has always divided opinion.

Personally I have written tens of thousands of words with the keyboard on the MB 12inch and find it faster and more accurate than the previous chiclet keyboard.

I type much better on the new, flatter keyboard. Also I will tell you there is a sizable difference between typing on the new MacBook Pro keyboard, and the even flatter 12" MacBook keyboard.

Yikes. I didn't realize they cut back on the battery, even more so on the touch bar models. I would have personally liked the MacBook to retain its thickness and weight if it meant 20% more battery life.

I'm still interested in one of the touch bar models but might hold off for a price drop. I intend to keep the laptop for the next few years, and ultimately use it as my iMac replacement but since this is a want and not a need, I can't justify the cost just yet.

Count me as another who loves the new keyboards. Been using a rMB for a year and, as a touch typist, can definitely type faster.

Price will definitely drop bases on previous trends. Lets see where we are 12-18 months from now.

I have no idea who this person is.

My advice is wait for the real reviews from Rene Richie, John Gruber and Jim Dalrymple before making any hasty decisions.

I'm definitely leaning heavily towards upgrading. But I'm waiting for the credible reviews to arrive.

I would be willing to bet within a year the price of the base Pro model drops to $1299, the current 12" MacBook drops to $999 allowing Apple to kill off both the 13" Air and 13" last gen Pro. Then we'll simply have "MacBook" and "MacBook Pro".

We could even see the current 13" base Pro model rebranded as a 13" MacBook (remember the first aluminum 13" MacBook that was upgraded to a Pro in 2009?) and the touch bar model could become the entry level model.

I absolutely believe that Apple is making a ton off of accessories and using it to pad its profits. It's sad but some other company needs to make a better laptop. Since they don't, nothing we can do about it.

A friend of mine own & manages companies that produce IOS device peripherals, and some of the things he has told me astounded. Absolutely no doubt Apple is making a very decent profit, even off the work of other due to clever patenting...

There is no doubt what Apple produces is good, more rather the deception Apple is taking towards it`s customers...

Lisa is one of the best notebook reviewers on the planet. What are you talking about?

Fair enough. In my opinion the three you mention are consistently biased in favour of Apple. They almost never have anything critical to say, and that reduces the value of their opinions.

Count me in the camp of not crazy about the keyboard in my new 2016 rMBP (coming from a 2013 rMBP). I'm hoping the experience will get better with time.

In market for new laptop. Need a MBP variety now (currently with a 13" mba). Keyboard is biggest issue I got. wife with rMB (we both hate the keyboard)...

Like always, an amazing review and probably the best since the only other person who has done a "review" has been DetroitBORG. Both do really great reviews, although it's weird that this time neither went into the graphics.
I would have liked to see Cinebench run. Have any owners here run the benchmark? How does it perform?

It depends what you like in a keyboard, but the new one seems to be better for people who like tactile feedback but not so much travel. I haven't tried the new MBP 2nd gen mechanism so I'll have to see what it's like.

I like the keyboard travel. I found I make a lot more mistakes when using my wife's laptop for any purpose. We've frequently discussed selling her rMB for a mba because of the keyboard, but she likes everything else about the laptop.

I've just had a some hands on time with the non touchbar version at my local store.

The keyboard is horrendous, hardly any difference between this one and the MacBook.
