Not to take anything away from this thread, but another similar type of issue that's been going on for a while hasn't seen much in the way of any new updates, and if at all possible, it would be great if someone might take a look into it as well, perhaps as they are looking into all of this which might be somewhat similar or even related in some way: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/missing-icons-no-padlock-or-pushpins-showing-up.2018636/
That one might be a little trickier considering I haven't figured out how to reliably replicate it, but I've asked them to look at it as well.
In relation to the missing forum icons, yeah, that one doesn't seem to affect everyone all the time. It almost seems like it might be related to some server(s) that might not call or load something correctly, or something else similar to that.

Can somebody open their javascript console and take a screenshot of it and upload it here when this error occurs. That might shed some light on this. http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/a/77337 has information on how to open the javascript console if you're not sure how.
This issue should be fixed now. Please post here if anyone is still running into it.

Any chance someone might be looking into another long-standing visual glitch issue at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/missing-icons-no-padlock-or-pushpins-showing-up.2018636/ (which perhaps might also have a similarly quick fix)?
Yeah, I mentioned a couple posts up I'd asked them look into it. That will likely take a bit more digging, but they're working on it.
My apologies, I think I thought that earlier post was in relation to the issue in this thread. Appreciate you following up, and glad to hear that someone is working on that one.
This really isn't the thread about the issue mentioned at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/missing-icons-no-padlock-or-pushpins-showing-up.2018636/, but since it's been discussed a bit here (and since that thread doesn't seem to get as much in the way of replies from those involved with the site) I thought I would follow up and see if there has been any new developments about that issue in the last month and a half. It seems like the issue is still around, at least as far as I can tell.
I haven't heard any more about it from our developers, but I'll follow up.
