Hey all.

Pretty basic, but I want to be sure I understand. I currently use Mail for my POP mail account and I want to have it work with MobileMe when it is launched.

My question is: will MobileMe allow me to use...exclusively...my POP account for incoming/outgoing messages? I want to use MobileMe instead of signing up for Exchange as it seems better.

Thank you!

The consensus is that for push of emails, this will only work with the new .me accounts. If you can forward emails from your pop account to .me, then MobileMe will then push the emails to your devices. HOWEVER, it has been pointed out that when you get that email, if you reply, it's the .me account that will be listed in the 'From' field.

Some think MobileMe will have the ability to grab emails from a POP account and send them to .me. Either way, you'll need to use .me in addition to your POP account.

At least that's what the consensus is - but then, nobody on the outside really knows the details, so we'll have to wait.

Cheers for the replies!
Had assumed that it did do push e-mail.
Did .mac do personal domains do you know? I thought id read that it did, but cant find out how..

It does, but you have to setup via ilife 08. My address in my sig does just that.

No. You can't use any other email account EXCEPT a mobileme account (@mac.com or @me.com) with MobileMe.
