Haha, that's pathetic! Like having a PC again..

Why do you have to make such cheap shots? Apple can't take one day out of the year to get their service working right but Microsoft takes 18 months to fix Vista and still hasn't and their user base forgives them. Damn.

A developer quoting that a software rollout is a disaster? There's something you don't see every day!

He didn't write it. I've always felt that developers are like guitarists at a gig... You know, they are ALWAYS better than the guy on stage.

That's exactly what I have been saying but I keep getting shot down by posters that just like to find something to fault Apple over.

Guys, if the MobileMe "cloud" is to work as intended it sure as hell better be sturdy enough to handle more than a few hundred people using the service at once. Just a thought...

confused

many have referred to an "update". What update is that. I get nothing in software updates other than iTunes 7.7. Do i need an update or do i just need the me.com website to be up and running?

Also - can i get rid of my .mac mail and just have .me mail or do i need both?

SO confused.

thanks!!

Wow...

Does anyone here remember what a 1600 baud modem was??

Well, MobileME is slower than that right now....

Ahhhh, what memories! I still had a 2400 baud modem in my storage unit until last year some time, when I finally pitched it! Of course, I also remember keypunches, hollerith cards, disk packs, core memory (REAL core!) and a pet dinosaur named.... well, you get the idea! :D

Ok guys... so I emailed sjobs@apple.com....

Here's what I wrote:
"Hello,
I am writing to you to express my disappointment with the migration process to MobileMe. Granted, I m able to access my email via IMAP, but I am not able to sync contacts, idisk, or anything else for that matter between my mac systems. I throught it was perfectly reasonable when I read on the dotmac site that service would go down overnight. Unfortunately, overnight turned into an up and down rollercoaster ride, resulting in a service that went up and down more frequently than a $5 you-know-what. This is unacceptable for a pay premium service. I would expect this from a free service, such as gmail, with which I am writing to you from. I would like to keep this account, but I do beleive that current dotmac users should be compensated in some degree for the inconvenience.

Please Advise,
<name> "

I was responded to, within minutes.... with this:

"I think you can give us a day to get it right."

I dont think he is very happy....
I call BS ... screenshot please....

Are you for real? I hope this is a joke. Emailing Steve Jobs about about this migration to MobileMe! LOL You're asking for compensation and you don't even know how long it's been down for and how long it could be down for?

Fair enough if you were writing after a lengthy period of downtime and actually had some figures to suggest for reimbursement.

You need to get a life. Really, you do. My response would have been much tastier than give us a day to get it right...

Why would you write that email? God, people are the worst. Nation of whiners indeed.

I must admit I would never have written an e-mail like that, and I agree with the response.

Mind you, I'm British and we apologize for getting blood on your bullet if you shoot us.

Personally, I will grudgingly accept a free iPhone 3G.

I hope you were deliberately taking the mickey. Otherwise you really are an epic douchebag.

There's nothing wrong with cheap-shots. I LOVE happy hour.

Does anyone really think he really sent that email and a couple of minutes later Steve Jobs or anyone at Apple monitoring that email address would reply that way? LOL ..everyone is so gullible!

Found the Problem

And its a meteorologist to blame

mac.com IMAP

Serious question: are any of you able to (RIGHT NOW) access your mac.com email via IMAP? I have been unable to do so all day.

I couldn't help but s****** at this one... LOI

EDIT: Need to explain. s****** has been blocked due to a filter. What I originally said meant "Stifled laugh".

1600? LUXURY! We used to use two tin-cans connected by a wet piece of string. We had to hold it to our ears and make the right squeeky noises at our end while our father beat us with cricket bats.

Yes I can and have not had a problem on my Mac with it all day - on my iPhone I had to re-enter my password and it works now too...
