Well then don't lose your iPhone, make sure it gets stolen.

I am pretty up in the air too on which one to get. I think I might go with that safewear but it worries me about not hearing any feed back on them. I want to get insurance though cause I am clumsy and I do go out drinking often. There are some shady people too in this world that will steal it right off your table even if you only put it down for a second.

How good is SafeWare? Are they a reputable company? Will they actually honor a claim?

The reason I ask, is because with SqT I have never had an issue on the one claim I made, and their feedback is consistently good with honoring the policy.

Other vendors not so much. Around ~10 years ago I worked for a company that offered after market warranties (in IT) and I can tell you that they deny as many claims as they possibly can. I'm not saying all are like that, but some are.

They only insure the 16GB for $400 (it will cost you $600 + TAX to replace it). So you have:

$200 you have to add to the $400 they give you
$50 deductible
$42 sales tax on full $600 amount of the new phone (based on 7%)
$80 for the insurance.

Your out of pocket is $372. Apple only charges $199 if it is water damaged or broken glass.

All these insurances are a waste of money.

My house insurance covers the phone even when lost outside, elsewhere. That's why I don't need separate insurance!
Unless you have specifically "scheduled it" (called an "inland marine" policy like for jewelry, artwork and cameras etc) you had better check on that to be sure. IF you did "schedule" it with your homeowners insurance and make a loss claim it can cost you more on your next 3 years insurance renewals in increased rates then the check you get.

I got SquareTrade, makes more sense than MobileProtect (As Apple will charge you $199 for the replacement anyways for the broken glass).

I got the insurance mainly because the phone is MADE OUT OF GLASS. It would be stupid not to, however, I do have a bumper.

I know people think rip off but I disagree. I use Mobile protect for 12 a month. With Apple care I am covered for any situation and worst Im out of is 200 for 32 g size. To me its worth a peace of mind, especially after reading all these horror stories.

Im sure people have lots of stuff sitting in the house that they paid alot more for and just collecting dust like dvd or games. We all spend wasted money in some form. I just chose here since my phone is so important to my every day lifestyle. And it covers lost of 2 phones at 1500.

I have the Square Trade.

I haven't had to use it yet, but it has gotten many great reviews...

I also have many coupon codes if anyone is interested in $30 off their coverage just PM me
