I'm thinking of putting in a film to modify the color the Apple logo on the front looks like.

If I ever keep a Mac for long enough that the Apple Care expires, then I'll definitely put in the old rainbow apple!

I would love to do this to my MB but it seems pretty invasive... and obviously you'd need to remove it before sending it in for service as they'd know immediately if they saw the Apple. Maybe a few years down the track. The rainbow or the green + red looks nice.

The only trick is patience and the thinnest screwdriver you can find. You just have to work at it and keep turning a little at a time. I still have one of the display screws that i can't get completely back in....

I got one of those tiny little screwdrivers for glasses, but I still couldn't do it. I'm going to look for something even smaller. Do you have information on the screwdriver you used?

thanks!

it looks like its from a Dell...

No, it's from Titanium PB G4. I changed two Shift keys to add some contrast to bleak aluminum surface. I like it in day light, but at night, with keyboard illumination on, it looks like starship Enterprise :) Well somebody might like it. It's reversible anyway.

You could just put a sticker on top of it and they wouldn't notice anything....

Nope. Just a cheap one from a tool shop. It was a little kit with like 6 screwdrivers. It takes literally 20 minutes to get the screws out.

Dont know how to take the screen off, but i prefer red apple with green stem.

How did you guys get the screws off? I have the right screwdriver i can't get the right angle to keep it locked in and turn it.

make sure you have the right size blade

Apple uses very small phillips screws for the case. The correct sixe is a Phillips 00, and you must have a good screwdriver. Do not use a chrome plated blade )they slip) and make certain that the blade fits all the way down (some are too pointed and the outer edges do not fully engage resulting in a stripped head). I use a Husky screw driver HD-74501 T that I bought a Home Depot a couple of years ago - works great.

I've tried everything, I've used 5 different screwdrivers. But angling them in is impossible. the screws are just in a place where the only way to remove them is to take off the whole display. What is the efing trick to this. I cant find one store that sells a bloody phillips 00 screwdriver. I have found a 000 but they are all made too large to fit in there

Anyone put their icolour between the stock one and the faceplate? pics? My red apple looks good but its not as bright as i wish it was...

I went to my local lowes and there was a screwdriver set of 5 or 6...all small....most likely all lowes' have this set.....

Mine didnt fit right in it slipped but i just kept turning and it would eventually catch for a quarter turn or so--repeat that for 5 minutes and VOILA!

I've also tried about 4 screwdrivers, none work.

Im gonna try again in a couple weeks.
