Guys,

I have a MBA mid 2011. Last week I installed Continuity Activation Tool on my Yosemite, worked perfectly fine.

Tonight I upgraded to el capitan and installed Continuity Activation Tool v 2.1.2 by disabling SIP. the installation went through without any issue and it asked for a reboot but when I restarted my laptop, it stuck on the boot screen. (The screen after you enter your password and there is a bar that should be filled to load the OS) I had no choice other than CTR+R and reinstall the OS.

Please tell me how can I solve this issue? I just have the airdrop, hands-off and ... for a night on Yosemite....:(

I've had it just randomly disable showing the wifi icon and that there is wifi between reboots. Maybe it will work for two reboots, and then it will go away again. No problems with sip off. Obviously, YMMV... But for now I am simply leaving it off until I get 100% confirmation that it can be made to work reliably with SIP on...

Ok, Just finished upgrading to 10.11. Disabled SIP and run CAT 2.1.1. Everything works until now :), but I didn't turn on SIP yet.

Interestingly I had rebooted after updating iTunes to 12.3 and something else and then I had the no hardware icon. I posted about it a few posts above yours.

Yep, I saw your earlier post. Actually, I updated to iTunes 12.3 before, when MacBookPro was still with 10.10. BTW, I did an upgrade after 10.11 installation, a couple of "Voices", but everything went well, maybe because SIP was disabled.

Later I will try to turn on SIP, just to see what happens, and I'll let you know. Meanwhile, again thanks to both of you for all the advices :)

Too squeamish to attempt updating to El Cap. 17"MBP Late 2011 with CAX card, currently running perfectly with Yosemite. Can anyone with a similar setup verify there's no harm in upgrading? From what I'm reading, something will break. I'm not ready to do it if I don't know how to fix.

I have a late 2011 15" MBP with CAX card. Everything works fine, however I did a clean install of El Cap when it was a GM, then updated to Public. No probs tho. I still have Yosemite on another partition as not all my apps are fully supported by El Cap yet.

Same thing happened to me (and my MBP mid 2011). I have a bluetooth card that was installed three OS upgrades ago, and hand-off worked on all three. Visited Apple store today and they confirmed that everything else is working perfectly. I don't know how to get past the progress bar during restart. I used El Capitan for a week fine (but w/o hand-off). I can't get to the point where I can install CAT 2.1.2 because I can't restart to turn off SIP. Help, please!

Is there any difference between GM and the public version? SIP? I'm considering installing on another partition to be safe, but it's only a 480GB SSD...

If I install it, and something breaks, can I go backward with Time Machine Restore?

Slightly different build number but otherwise the same. You can still disable SIP in recovery. You should be able to restore from TM if needed. I actually cloned Yosemite to an external drive, clean installed El Cap on main partition, created a second partition and cloned Yosemite back to that second partition.

Take in mind that any files created in El Cap will not be restored so you'll have to manually move them somewhere else, restore from TM and move those files back.

I just installed the final version, everything still works great after running CAT again.
I really lost track of which version of CAT works with which model etc..
So please fill out this form to let me know (also state if you used an old cloudpaired or such).

Added details to form.

One thing I have been noticing (and I noted in the doc) is that handoff sometime seems to "go to sleep" and therefore doesn't show app activity on the dock when it should. After a few minutes it "wakes up" and starts showing phone apps on the dock again. I don't remember this lag being present in Yosemite. I wonder if this is related to the poor Bluetooth performance people using a magic mouse/trackpad notice when CAT run in El Cap.

I've also noticed that it sometimes doesn't work. Not sure wether this is an issue with CAT or with El Cap.

Could somebody give specific simple steps to corrections that will enable continuity on imac Il Capitano 10.11 to somebody not versed in imac, terminology and operations you presented above.... Thanks...

A.C.T. on El Capitan Using Bluetooth 4.0 USB Dongle?

Apologies in advance if this has already been answered...

I have a late 2009 iMac running the public release of El Capitan. I recently learned about the Continuity Activation Tool and have been reading up on it. I would love to get Airdrop functionality, while the other features are just nice to haves for me. The real reason this sparked my interest, though, is Apple's new Magic Trackpad 2 with Force Touch. Apparently it requires Bluetooth 4.0 to work wirelessly.

On the A.C.T.'s Github page there's a notice that Bluetooth dongles aren't yet supported on El Capitan. What's the latest on this? Who is working on a fix or workaround and what is the likelihood of success?

So I deleted Adobe Flash from my MBP and deleted related folders then restarted. After the restart I got the "no hardware" error (wifi icon with an X thru it). This seems to happen whenever you mod any system files. Disabling SIP fixed the problem. Has anyone else had this?

yeah, I did. the "no hardware" error seems to occur when you reboot the computer.

go check https://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/issues

It seems that you should uninstall your current version of CAT and re-install it with the last version. I didn't try it yet though.
For me it doesn't happen after every reboot. Only when I've modded/updated a system file/app. I've rebooted just fine with SIP enabled. However after removing Adobe Flash and deleting related files/folders then rebooting, that's when I got the error. I have uninstalled CAT (v2.1.1) and reinstalled v2.1.4, ran Continuity, re-enabled SIP and have rebooted a few times. No more errors.

I'm doing a bit of traveling here in the next few weeks (thus my reluctance to upgrade right away after you all tell me its working). I'm considering wiping my SSD drive and installing El Cap from scratch, and seeing if I can't get Continuity to work. My MBP is currently my daily use computer, so if I have issues, I'll be out until my non-programming self can figure out how to fix it.

I'm not sure if anyone's aware, but the latest version of CAT (2.2) is now working for dongles in El Cap! :D

Continuity and Airdrop works well (tested), Handoff does too (although I'm not entirely sure since this is my first time using it, and I don't have any previous experience to which to compare it). But Mac to iPhone Handoff doesn't seem to work (yet? I'm aware of some kind of delay before things kick in).

But yeah, kudos to sysfloat for his hard work and time, as well as the dongle beta testers!

I know Handoff in v2.1.4 was working both ways.

Almost everything work for me. SMS, safari. I can call out from the MAC but but cannot receive calls on the MAC. I can receive calls on my iPad.

Any idea's why I can't receive calls on the MAC OSX El Capitan?

Made sure both devices on wifi? Are you using a firewall on you Mac? I so, disable it and try again. If it works, it's something in the firewall.
