I'm kind of thinking about making my own out of wood. I've never attempted something like that before, but I think it would be fun. One made from ceramics would also be neat, and I'm more familiar with that medium, but I'd have to put some sort of cloth on it to prevent scratches.

I like this, but it appears as though you'll have to A) buy the extra 6' charging cable; or B) buy a USB extension cable to make it reach the power outlet behind your nightstand.

I hope in the future, Apple allows manufacturers to integrate their own certified connectors (Lightning, contactless for AppleWatch, etc.). Then they could create a more elegant solution with a 6' power cord that went to the standard outlet most likely behind your nightstand.

I went with the Spigen S330, small and simple. Only $20 on Amazon...

I like it! But ....

I wonder why Griffin didn't go a step further and let you put an iPhone charging cable in it too, so only a few inches of the end of it stuck out the side of the base? Then your iPhone could use it as a charging stand as well, without you having the cabling just lying there in full view.

Griffin makes a great option for the Apple Watch, too. The cord is wound around the inside so that you don't see it, and the bottom of the stand has some curves so that the cord coming out the bottom doesn't create an uneven surface. Sharp looking.

Looks good..

Looks good but $149 for the W3? I'd rather just look at the damn cables. My other watches don't have stands...I'll be o...k..

Well, 149 is for the Silver/Mahogany, just Silver or Black will be 129.
Keep in mind that we are including two MFI Lightning cables (for the iPhone and iPad) and a 4.8A charger with smart chip technology as well, to make sure your devices get the power they need. And all our units are CNC milled out of solid aircraft grade aluminium- so no plastic feeling...

We would have loved to include a fixed MagSafe for the Apple Watch as well but as you probably know, only option right now would be to buy the one from Apple and cut the cables off :)

Ran into Apple development people and had a chat with them. There is some hope on the horizon but unfortunately, not within a short timeframe.

The narrow base looks too easy to accidentally knock over and send the watch flying onto the floor.
