I have one from Amazon that I received a couple of weeks ago, then was planning on returning it when I got mine from focalprice but may not if its a fake. I'll compare the 2 and report back when it comes in, hopefully any day now.

Ahh yes, please report back!

It's cheap because it is a knock-off.

As much as I like buying knockoff chinese cases, I am skeptical as to whether the battery in this deal will hold up more than a very short period of time before leaking and damaging my iPhone.
I have had zero luck in ever buying batteries off of Ebay or any other site. I believe you get what you pay for when it comes to certain types of items such as batteries.

Maybe I am wrong? Maybe some one who actually gets one can tell us about the battery life when he gets it, and after a month or so??

Agree 100% on the knock off battery related items being a huge risk and yes sometimes still in this day and age you do get what you pay for .

I am eyeballing the plus case now and i know with absolute certainty i would not touch the knockoffs .

Someone over at Amazon did a review of the Mophie Juice Pack Air in White; claimed the paint was chipping away. I currently have the Black with Silver Band, and was planning on exchanging it for the Red, or maybe even White. But now that I've read this review, maybe, I should stick to what I have.

Does anyone's Mophie Air have any cosmetic issues with the color? I've only had mine for about 3 weeks, and so far the black is pristine. Thanks.

The black will look better longer due to the fact it has a soft touch finish. Other than some minor fingerprint issues the matte finish keeps a lot of the minor cosmetic issues to a minimum.

The colored ones are all glossy meaning that if you drop them, they will show damage. Same way they will also show scratches and such. They have roughly the same back as the Candyshell.

The Red, actually more Magenta than it is Red, is the same as the Black - matte satin-rubber texture. I know the white is plastic all-around. Because I have a Black 4S, i just wanted to change it up a notch. I look at the Black, and I really like, but when I see the Red at the store, it's striking. I still have 4 days to make a decision. I think I'll buy the Red, take it home, and decide which to keep - problem solved.

I ordered the cyan Mophie Juice Pack Plus for my wife off of Amazon for $61. I haven't ordered mine yet. I'm supposed to be getting the black one for $70 + 6% tax from a friend of mine who's an AT&T Store Manager.

I'm trying to find more info on good Mounts/Cases/Holders for the iPhone 4s with the juicepack attached for cycling and running.

Just received the black mophie plus from focalprice and after comparing it to the real red one I have (purchased directly from amazon for $99) the black focalprice one feels about 5x lighter and cheaper than the red real one.

The packaging on the black one has darker font but everything is clear and almost identical to the real red one's package.

The buttons on the real one press down, whereas the the black one the buttons dont press down, however they do work just fine.

The black one does work and charge just as good as the real one.

Here are some pictures comparing the 2 - hard to tell really by looking at the pics and only way you can tell them apart is how the feel. The red real one is heavier and doesnt feel like a cheap piece of plastic.

If you guys have specific questions, let me know. I'm going to try using the fake one and if it works out i'll be happy.. not too worried about long term battery issues as I have applecare and will probably upgrade the phone when the next iphone comes out.

Can you post a few photos of the Red with your iPhone? I just got back from Best Buy to look at the Red Mophie Air, and decided to keep my Black Air instead. But something is still making me want it. I was going to just buy it and do a comparison at home, but after looking at it in the store, the red color, is a 'lil Christmas-sie. Color reminds me of a Christmas tree ornament, but again, I'm somewhat still liking it.

I just wished they made the white the same way as the red and black rubber satin finish. I wonder why Mophie went all plastic with just the white?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info regarding the cases. I'm wondering if perhaps the knock-off case is much lighter because the battery isn't as large, and therefore doesn't have as much capacity as the real one?

If you can, Let me know how those charge times are working on the focal mophie. Thanks!

Thanks TwinCitiesJHawk

I noticed you have the Red Plus. Do you know if the Red on the Plus is the same Red on the Air. Looks very cool. Thanks for posting.

It's not. The plus version is slightly brighter around the band and has a black back while the Air is a darker red, slightly crimsom, all around. It also isn't the same soft touch as the black. It doesn't feel as "soft". It is still matte finished but more like the Candyshell satin. Very thin coat. You can actually feel the plastic underneath is that makes sense.

That was my guess too b/c theres not much else to the case besides the battery. The weight is such a huge difference between the 2.

Out of the box the black focalprice was 3 lights, it took about 1.5 hrs for the 4th light to stop blinking and be fully charged.

I have yet to test the black case fully to see how long it will charge the phone for. With the red real one, I have had my 4s down to 5%, turn on the mophie and have it charge to 100% with still 2 lights left showing.

So I wrote focalprice a message stating that I received a fake due to the night and day difference between the real and one i received and here is their response back:

Dear Twincitiesjhawk,

Thanks for your message.

We are sorry for the confusion has caused. For your information, the SKU you bought from us is copy with high quality, although it is not the real, but the quality and performance are both ok. We sincerely suggest you accept it and we would like to offer a 1% coupon for you for your next purchase with us.

Is that ok for you? Please feel free to let us know your idea.

Have a nice day!

Mophie Juicepack:
Useful, reasonably priced.

Whilem it can be use for a case it ads weight to your iPhone. Charging is same as usb connection. Durability of morphine is good but not great.

Bottomline: a good battery pack

Fake Mophie

Yeah I assume it was. I disputed via paypal and got a full refund from them.

So....I purchased a "genuine" mophie off of ebay before seeing all these reports about the fakes. Sure enough, mine is a fake, but surprisingly it's working quite nicely and I am rather enjoying it.

Question: If you still own the fake, how has the performance been? versus the real mophie? Have you heard any other information about the performance of fakes?

Thanks in advance.

We have 3 in the family... 2 are fakes, and the one I purchased is real. I've used all 3, and the only difference I've noticed is that the fake ones actually charge the phone up more than the real one does.

I normally get 80% out of my real Mophie case, and from both the fake ones, I get between 95-100% charge before it dies out.

All three are the Air version.

Good deal at this price? I would like to have the battery in case of emergencies..
