The results are on the graph. The phone was placed on a charger at 0%, and as soon as it turned on (at ~2%) was put into airplane mode. Used the same phone (iPhone X 256GB), same power outlet, and same case (Trianium Clarium) for all tests. RAVPower charged to 100% in about 3 hours and 10 minutes in all tests, while Mophie took from 3 hours and 14 minutes to 3 hours and 29 minutes.

This appears debunks the theory that only the Morphie and Belkin supply 7.5W and that Apple was limiting fast wireless charging to only those two brands, which are the ones it sells in its stores. Sounds like the test was well done.

I did some tests too. When I measured a Belkin, it took 3hr 15min to go from 0 to 100%, although that was not in airplane mode. And when I measured the RAVPower up-right charging stand (Amazon link) that I believe only supplies 5W, it took 3hr 38min. I subsequently returned the Belkin because the difference didn’t justify the higher cost and I liked the up-right design better.

Can you post the link of the ravpower you tested? Wanna check it on amazon. Thanks

eagleglen I wish manufacturers were more transparent about their fast charging claims. Just missed the return window for Mophie, otherwise would have returned it too. It's good to know you had similar results with Belkin, I was a bit puzzled by Gizmodo reporting better speeds in their tests while I could not get anywhere close to their numbers with two different Mophie units. Maybe it's because of the phone case, but if you have to remove the case to get those speeds it's no more convenient than standard wired charging..

So what ravpower wireless charging did you use to test? There is this stand type and the circle one that cost 44&

This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FHY8MB/
Great charger overall and faster than Mophie in my tests (which is really odd because 7.5W charging speeds reported by Macrumors and Gizmodo are better than what I get, possible because I use a phone case).

Thanks. So RavPower is making false advertisement since 7.5W wireless charging is only allowed by apple to belkin and mophie

That's exactly what I though when I just got RAVPower and posted this:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/does-ravpower-fast-charge-my-test-results.2094119/

So I expected Mophie with its certified 7.5W charging to be faster but surprisingly it wasn't! I even thought I got a defective charger and got a replacement. At this point, I'm guessing that either my phone does not do 7.5W, or it's the phone case that somehow makes 7.5W charging perform like 5W charging. Might just try charging without a case out of curiosity.

My iPhone X (256GB) was in an Apple leather case. I also didn't turn on airplane more. And I attached my RavPower to a 2.4A wall charger, so it was hopefully able to supple 12W to the wireless coils.

I thought you were suggesting the Ravpower was charging at 7.5W, not that the Mophie was only doing 5w. I would definitely retest without your case to see if that makes a difference.

Which rav power one did you use for your testing?

The one I mentioned in post #2 of this thread. It doesn’t come with a wall charger, so I also got 2.4A wall plug at the same time to use with it.

Ah sure. Apologies. So according to your tests it looks like the fast charging of 7.5W doesn’t really make much of a difference. I’m not sure why most upright chargers don’t support the 7.5W charging anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t think it’s a problem with up-right chargers, it’s that almost all wireless chargers, except for the Belkin and Mophie, don’t change at 7.5W. This will hopefully change with the crop of new wireless charges just announced at the 2018 CES.
