Mophie has resolved the intermittent charging issues plaguing its 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe, and the accessory is now once again available to purchase on Apple and ZAGG's websites. The accessory was removed from both storefronts in mid July following widespread reports from users unable to get their iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch to hold a charge on the device.

According to a statement from Mophie, the company will send out a firmware update kit to all current owners of a defective Travel Charger within the next two weeks. If you do own the accessory, you should be receiving an email from Mophie soon with instructions on how to get the kit.

If you haven't heard from Mophie and have had issues with the Travel Charger, you can email travelcharger@mophie.com and speak to Mophie's customer service. The kit is free and only one kit is needed regardless of how many Travel Chargers you own. The kit comprises one USB-C dongle that plugs into the USB-C port at the base of the charger and should take no longer than two minutes to update.

Trouble with the Travel Charger began sometime in June, when users in Apple's discussions community and other forums began talking about charging issues with the accessory. Many users noticed that the device was not providing a consistent charge to anything sitting on it, be it an iPhone, AirPods, or Apple Watch. Because of this, the Travel Charger was unavailable to purchase since mid July.

Now that the problem has been addressed, you can purchase the accessory once again from Apple or ZAGG for $149.95.

(Thanks, Jens!)

I sent a request for the firmware upgrade kit to the address included in the article above (travelcharger@mophie.com) and received an immediate response (might have been automated) with a link for putting the upgrade kit in my shopping cart at Zagg.com. The kit was free, shipping (to the U.S.) was free and it says it is a preorder. The order process was quick.

€4.99 shipping fee in Republic of Ireland too 😡
I closed the window when $20 shipping to Canada popped up. €4.99 sounds pretty good from here!
(But they shouldn't be shipping anything. There's enough e-waste in the world. Why not make it downloadable?)

I was wondering why mine just stopped working after one day of use and was just constantly initiating then dropping the charging connection for all my devices. Wish I had seen this a few days ago before I bought the Apple travel charger with Magsafe.

Reached out to Mophie via the email link above, ZAGG responded, placed the order. Is ZAGG the OEM for Mophie (for this product, at least), or do they own Mophie?

Edit - just Googled. ZAGG acquired Mophie in 2016.

I bought one of these when they first came out and have never had an issue with it. My wife uses it now since I wanted one that holds the phone sideways for Standby mode.

I’ve just registered for the firmware upgrade and used the link that was provided. Unfortunately ZAGG don’t deliver to New Zealand, I’m in stuck with two of the chargers that are going to continue to gather dust as they are unusable.

What type of company doesn’t bother to ship to a global market or provide customer support for a defective items sold in this country by Apple.

Update: email just landed in to say my shipping fee of €4.99 was incorrectly charged and they are refunding me. Credit where it’s due. Literally!

mophie comms team here. Some affected customers outside of the U.S. who ordered the firmware update kit were incorrectly charged for shipping. That was not our intent. We apologize for this and are currently refunding all shipping costs to anyone charged earlier today.
Hi. Can you please explain why you won’t allow customers in New Zealand to place an order for the firmware upgrade kit, as I’ve just tried to order one and your website informs me that you don’t ship to NZ. I’ve got two chargers that are currently useless.

Apple Watch charger is not the new fast charger, useless product.
