mophie comms team here. Some affected customers outside of the U.S. who ordered the firmware update kit were incorrectly charged for shipping. That was not our intent. We apologize for this and are currently refunding all shipping costs to anyone charged earlier today.

Thanks Mophie. If you just transfer the funds into my account we will say no more about it

Also I will consider buying one of these here charging mats as a gesture of goodwill.

For clarity, if we purchase one from The Apple Store now, we don’t need the firmware update right?

Charging UK customers £4.99 in shipping fees, too…
That’s odd, because when I put my country as United Kingdom I get the message “Unfortunately one or more items in your cart can't be shipped to your location. Please choose a different delivery address.”

Edit: never mind, sorted it now.

Hi. Can you please explain why you won’t allow customers in New Zealand to place an order for the firmware upgrade kit, as I’ve just tried to order one and your website informs me that you don’t ship to NZ. I’ve got two chargers that are currently useless.
New Zealand is shippable on the EU store, but not on the US store. Refer to the "select a region" drop-down menu at the bottom right on ZAGG.com and select "European Union."

Thanks so much for proving a reply. I’ve just switched to the European store and placed my order

Zagg never responded as I have sent emails. however emailed mophie, got the link to pre-order the firmware update with free shipping, just received my order confirmation.

Will be nice to be able to wake to a working phone when traveling.

Yeah, but who are UCOMX? Are these certified for use in the US, or are they just another bunch of cheap Chinese goods that might set your house on fire?
cause mophie is made in the USA?

we have 4, one on everyones nightstand, for a least a year now. perfect. Better yet, we just fold up and drop in our suitcase/backpack/purse/cross bag. Tiny. USB C, so no goofy micro USB B plug. Nearly all hotels have USB A, so just bring a cable.. we have the little retractable ones that stay permanently in luggage. Couldnt be simpler. https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matter...fix=retractable+usb+c,electronics,152&sr=1-10

I just added the item, but they're quoting 18.50 Euros for shipping to Australia. Am I missing something?
I just tried the link again and you’re right, it’s now quoting the shipping fee. Bizarre. It was free when I placed mine. Maybe they’ve changed it due to demand? 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you placed an order for the firmware update kit and were charged for shipping, mophie has refunded your money. You should now see "Free Shipping" for all global regions. Thanks @supertomtom for posting your follow-up!

Is anyone else complaining about using the firmware update and it fixes the issue, but now after not using the charger till next day it won’t charge the phone till you unplug the USB-C from it? The AirPod slot will work but the phone pad will not till you remove power.

We have two and they've done this intermittently since we first got them over a year ago (some nights they won't begin charging the phone and you have to cut the power to them momentarily to get them to work, Zagg sent us replacements and they did the same thing so we've just lived with it, when we travel they are plugged in fresh each night so we don't notice this problem then). This need-to-restart behavior seems universal now after the firmware update, required each night rather than every week or so. I need to do more testing before I post more about this, just a few nights so far. But for now, yes, I can confirm that we are seeing this behavior as well. (Also, on each of these first few nights that I've used the Zagg charger again my phone has only charged to about 70%. I do not believe this is related to Optimized Battery Charging.)

I just received the firmware update kit today and while it seems to have fixed the charging issue, the AirPods pad section doesn't work at all anymore

So I've had another week to test.
  • We do still need to periodically unplug the charger then plug it back in to get it to begin charging on the iPhone pad
  • The earlier problem where charging stopped somewhere around 70% has resolved itself. Testing both chargers and both iPhones over for a week they have charged to 100% as expected.
In essence we're back to where we were before the recall; they work, but if we've left them plugged in (using them every night) periodically we have to cycle the power to get the iPhone pad to work. Otherwise they work as expected.

Yep I having that issue on the two chargers that I have. They are both failing to charge the iPhone even though they initially worked after doing the firmware update.
