Still, Apple and Google are the two companies that can fusion the learning/generative power of LLM with a wide ecosystem of hardware, applications and services. ChatGPT is marvelous in many ways but limited by being in a walled garden. Giving a kind of personal assistant access to apps and information and the depth of what (for better or worse) your devices know about your life, would be outstanding in so many scenarios, and this cross-pollination is basically something only Apple can deliver, from your watch to your desktop. And it fits the brand’s credo of making computers more and more personal. Plus, the brand has more power and pull to implement ideas … just as an example, finding a popular high-end voice actress for Siri should be dramatically simpler for the owners of AppleTV+ than for OpenAI.

are you serious when you say "wide ecosystem of hardware" ??

How many phone models in use and supported via OS updates does Apple have?
How many TV's does Apple have?
How many Washers,
How many Dryers,
How many Fridges?
How many tablet models?
How many projectors?
How many laptop models?
how many headphones? (I'd say THIS is the ONLY match for match towards Samsung in terms of HW they can match).

Services ... looking at the Watch alone, and the workouts natively attrocious - I'm talking FREE!

This demo is slowly becoming reality.

And to THINK, just a bit differently ... that Apple HAD the chance to make this a reality with 1st and 2nd generation iPad Pro! Siri was already ready ...

but NOOOOOOO .... Craig whined like a toddler because Forstall had too strong a work ethic to get things done and that didn't sit well with most of the lazy whiners at Apple so Tim had a hisy fit and remembered Scott almost had HIS job and because he would NOT say SORRY for Maps (the data was NOT his fault - it was the 3rd parties vectors in error) he kicked him out.

USELESS excuse to get rid of a top level, top producing employee that I've EVER HEARD of!

Result: Soon after Siri creators that were absorbed into Apple from the early purchase left to work on Bixby (let's not discuss as that's not the top here).
Then Siri languished. horribly, horrendously, treacherously!

Did anyone get kicked out YET because of this? WHY!!!?

Problem at Apple for years is there is too much personal issues amongst staff because they CANNOT be adults and DEAL maturely! They waste too much time making jokes for presentations for audiences to laugh at and especially when no REAL substance is to show for such an expensive presentation, which is to showcase a years worth of work.

I anticipated this would happen. WWDC is going to be one big gaslight event about Apple’s “amazing AI features” (not) coming in September, then (not) coming in spring 2025, and then it gets postponed ad nauseam. Apple should just admit that they were sleeping, caught off guard and was outmaneuvered by the novel AI tech companies

What novel tech companies you speak of and what features other than ChatGPT (which you can use on Apple devices) are catching Apple off guard?

Google recommending daily dosages of rock eating or spyware Copilot PCs that are still not out?

Wait ... is my Samsung washing machine connected to my Samsung TV? I didn't know that.
The thing I mean is a system where mobile, tablet, computer(s) and HIDs are (mostly) smartly interconnected and in these last years have become more so. I don't know of another company offering these smooth transitions Apple can bring to the table.

I've just mentioned such a company that vastly does more of exactly what you're stating than Apple does.
And have been at it a lot longer. try not to let the cool-aid keep your eyes buzzed.

While Apple outsources a LOT of the technologies they use, and have been using since day 1, Samsung makes what they use and the entire industry.

Samsung - conglomerate:
Cargo Ships and shipping boats,
Batteries - used in anything that uses them.
OLED's including that Apple branded OLED they use in their phones since iPhone X.
MicroLED Displays (iPad Pro's M2 and M4 generations)
XDR Display - yup that too by Samsung (panels at least)
SoC's and no just their own Exynos mobile SoC's used in smartwatches and competitors as well.
^ believe Samsung was the provider for SoC's for the iPhone 3G, 3GS as well.
Fridges, Stoves, Washers, Dryers, A/C units, Projectors etc.

Nobody not even Apple has connectivity enabled out of the box! It enables END USER interaction and enablement (that alone is Apple's way to ensure the end user is aware).

I installed beta1 and it’s the same old Siri and graphic. Nothing like what they showed at wwdc. The new Siri won’t come at all until 2025?

Are apple workers still working from home? Seems like it cause they are doing pre recorded presentations and lagging in software.

The AI stuff is coming in a later beta. Some features, like the app controls in Siri are not supposed to be available until after the first of the year. Probably because they have to update all of the apps to expose more features in the App Intents framework.

Not going to happen.

OpenAI will not deliver the supposed gains that they are selling. Microsoft will have realised their CoPilot pyramid scheme isn't playing out and is actually a net financial loss that has detracted from other product value and existing customers and the board will throw Satya out and switch focus in a mass panic to security to retain government revenue in the cloud. Also NVidia's hyped valuation will crash when the market reaches saturation. About this time everyone will discover they don't actually need this current fad of "AI" and all it does is hallucinate stuff within a limited window of credibility. Also government regulation will catch up and kick the market in the balls.

(these are actual market positions that people are playing at the moment)

Edit: Apple are playing the usual conservative engineering policy game that they do which is adopting mature outcomes from the hype, you know the ones that don't make you drive off a cliff or replace the moon with a donut on thursdays on your camera.
You're hilarious.

Satya has been with Microsoft a VERY VERY long time. In fact I'd dare to say with M365 + Azure Cloud Services alone becoming a big match vs AWS from Amazon has been more of an asset than Bill Gates ever was! That is just the beginning of the corporate market. Sales and revenues have steadily climbed since he's been running the show after Balmer and their stock price has steadily matched those efforts bringing Microsoft into the modern era.

In fact if it wasn't for Microsoft's HUGE insight and heavy investments into Chat-GPT, I'd doubt any other major company would have ... and Apple would have had to go with Google's Gemini - and they will if you properly listed to Craig and Cook's statements during the WWDC 2024 presentation!

Bill Gates was to Microsoft as Jobs was to Apple ... and BOTH geniuses had the foresight to setup their own companies for lasting progression. And like both ... Cook and Satya are leading each company to:
Higher marketshare,
Higher value products and services,
Higher revenues and profits (each are aligned where their strengths are, that has NOT changed),
Higher stock prices, options value and dividends for their executive team members and investors.

But no ... your fanboy glasses keeps you blind in the past (prior 2000) thinking its STILL a zero-sum game. Maybe you should try out or research the competitions products before making what is obviously an emotional statement based on conjecture.

Right now Satya has had more influence - via the investment into Chat-GPT and integration into M365 and Windows than Craig has had, neh even John Giannandrea has had with macOS, iOS, and iOS ... simply with Craig's public statement of trying Chat-GPT 4.0 and being astounded with its capabilities and pushing the team to work hard at integrating it.

You gotta ask yourself ... even with reading Apple's executive page what really has John Giannandrea has brought to the table if AI is his expertise if Craig had to try Chat-GPT to push the team in integrating it. Not ONCE did he even mention John at all with his findings nor testing. That should REALLY tell you and all Apple fans (myself included even if I'm staunchly critical) the lag that's been going on.

Apple made some great strides, I'm not taking that away from them yet its only been in hardware. Now the Apple Intelligence (AI still regardless of the cute and savvy branding of it) is playing catch up and the fact its STILL not ready is another obvious sign of them playing catch-up.

And yes ... Samsung didn't do enough to have Gemini anchored into Bixby yet I do see that coming if not being replaced entirely. Either way on my Galaxy S23 I'm not stuck to use Bixby one bit. Choice is a beautiful thing.

I think you missed a bit about the market position. This is not me, this is tier 1 investment companies. They aren't seeing the returns they are promised.

I couldn't speak earlier so I don't get reamed by the SEC, but they knew about the whole ARM / Qualcomm thing for weeks, which has just set Microsoft back considerably.

These guys are professionals, not emotional or conjecture based. They have actual working financial models and analysts coming up with this stuff.
