a glass or manufacturing process delays
Yup - I've just spoken to Apple UK and the iPad has been delayed (in the UK) till late June/July.
unless you're an "analyst" trying to manipulate stock, in which case you wouldn't bother to fact check, check out press releases from Jan 27:
"We now know that Apple will introduce its iPad tablet device in 60 days in the U.S., and 90 days for the 3G versions. We also learned that the international version will be available some time in June, expect to see the iPad hit the UK by the end of that month."
As a former AppleCare agent / Mac Genius, I can tell you unequivocally that the rep has no prior knowledge of launch dates. At most, they'll get some web-based iPad training, but 99% of the time we were accessing the same information publicly available on the Apple website.
Unless the website changes, don't panic!

The Apple UK website begs to differ.
Because the original hardware had space for camera, the SDK has programming for camera.... I wonder if manufacturing delays were because cameras were added to the mix before launch...
I am speculating but I expect a pre launch meeting that announces new MB pro's with i7's and SURPRISE! camera's in the iPADs.
Would love to see it, but it is highly unlikely. Apple is not the kind of company that makes a design decision and then changes it last minute because a handful of people think it should be so. If it didn't have a camera in it at the announcement, you can pretty much bet it won't when it goes on sale.
This might be Apple's doing
They do research themselves (obviously) and if their research tells them that the demand is less then their original projections then they will ramp down accordingly.
Any kind of ramp-down might appear like this in the media, as Apple is not going to divulge the research results.
After all, this iPad is controversial in spite of all the hype.
There's no proven market niche for this type of thing except as a reader. Amazon was very conservative with their projections for the Kindle ,which led to huge shortages at launch. Their own in house research must of led them to believe that demand would be such.
we shall see
Anyway, it's a world of spin
Before the iMac, the iPod, the iPad, there was the iSlave. 11 years old, works for gruel. And Steve's (love calling a billionaire by his first name) cool connect with all his iFans.
Maybe we can get a REAL SLATE computer, not a BIG iPod TOUCH!?!!?![]()
What do analysts say about delayed MacBook Pro's?![]()

So just what the heck does "our checks" mean?
They always say that. "Our checks in Asia indicate the foam packing peanuts aren't staying in the boxes." Or something like that.
Ditto that! Finally someone talking sense.
The idea that Apple would slap a camera into the iPad as a last minute "surprise" is absolutely ridiculous.
Guys, please, go and inform yourselves a bit about how large scale productions work. This ain't Steve and Jony handbuilding iPads in a garage, m'kay?
Tools and moulds for the iPad have been made MONTHS ago, as have the internal engineering and design. You can't just "add" something like a camera to an existing design without having to change the whole production line! After making a camera-version they would then have to have another lengthy period of testing and bug-fixing. On top of that they would have to change all the PR material and documentation for the product, manuals, product photos, packaging, homepage info, press material, everything!
Sorry, but the idea of a "surprise camera" on the iPad is a non-starter.
griz is absolutely right; what you've seen is what you get. Live with it.
Guys, I just talked to Steve over some grilled salmon and rice pilaf, and he said the iPad will be shipping in 5 days.
