What hardware issues are you referring to?
Seems to be a lot of issues with display. dead pixels. Will wait and see what else comes out as more users get their phones.

As more customers get their phones, the more I hear of problems. Im getting a bit concerned that the 5s is going to be a fault riddler. Mine is still pre-delivery but seriously considering returning it to save the hassle and just keep using my flawless 4s.
How does this stat compare with the 5 when it was launched last year?

"Seems to be." Is your 5s having issues, specifically? From your original post, you state you don't even have yours in-hand yet.
It seems premature to return a device you haven't even inspected. The defect rate is far from 100%, and if you're going to go by the complaints on a forum where users specifically seek support for issues, then you'd never buy. I for one have no dead pixels or interlacing, or any of the other defects you mention. My 5s is absolutely great, and so are the ones my friends have purchased since.
I think you should at least look your 5s over when it arrives before declaring it unfit for use.
Im going to leave it a few months. Thats being sensible!
They've sold millions of units and I've only heard of a few with dead pixels and the screen interlacing, my 5s is flawless for the record. If I didn't visit forums I wouldn't even know these problems exist, I'd just open your phone up buddy and if anythings wrong then return it. What do you have to lose?
Yes, you have to keep in mind that even if you've heard dozens of people report problems, that's out of MILLIONS of phones. You will never hear anything from the VAST majority of 5s owners because there's nothing wrong with their phones. Every product ever made has defects on some (usually very small) percentage of its units. That's what warranties are for. If you happen to get a defective device (and odds are that you won't) it will be replaced for free.
BTW
What did they do to remedy the infamous antenna problem? I wasn't interested in iPhones back then, so I remember hearing about the problem, but I didn't really follow the situation.
