Apple's A chips run circles around the competition and the gap will widen.
I think an Air replacement with ARM is a good possibility. Cross compilation of apps with Universal bundles would be easy.

It is possible to see an ARM chip as a coprocessor in the Pro.

Won’t say when they’ll be shipping Windows computers based on ARM.... ummm... because they can’t say that it’s going to happen. Windows on ARM is currently not a desktop operating system. It’s best suited for tasks like vending machines, ATM machines, and geeky prototyping projects.

To bring out a desktop running Windows 10 on ARM, they’re going to have to get Microsoft to back them.

So yeah... they’re talking about releasing a product which is dependent on some other company releasing another product. That’s definitely not a strong business strategy.

If they want to run Linux, then great. It exists.

Windows 10 IoT for ARM is not a consumer friendly system. It’s barely friendly for developers.

Windows 10 S already supports Snapdragon processors. And you can even run Windows 10 (non-S) though binaries from the web must be 32-bit to work.

Once Apple previews desktop oriented A series silicon, I’ll judge the merits of macOS running on ARMish technology at that time.

In the mean time, I’ll enjoy the panic from speculation. I’m no big fan of Apple crippling innovation to support the Blokes in Redmond.

That one had slipped by. I hadn’t read anything indicating Windows 10 for ARM beyond the IoT which was best for hobby use.

It’ll be interesting to watch that unfold.
