3G I can see but i don't think GPS It would be nice although.
Why do so many people think GPS (or A-GPS) won't be in the 3G iPhone? It's incredibly popular in nearly all other high-end smartphones, the chipsets are very small and easy to implement, the power usage isn't terrible especially since it doesn't need to be on all the time, and it's a very useful selling point for the iPhone.
I mean come on, this is the phone with multi-touch Google Maps as a primary selling point! And no GPS! I though it was crazy that they left it out of version 1! I would be shocked come June to see no GPS chip in iPhone 3G.
You know that like 97% of current cell phones have OLED displays. They're much more power efficient than regular backlit LCDs, and they're also easier to see in sunlight than an LCD.
lol! are you serious? I can't tell if you are joking, really bad at sarcasm, or just woefully misinformed, but that statement is patently false! 97% (or more) of all phones use a standard LCD screen. Now I'm not sure about Japan/Korea, but at least in the US/EURO market, I believe there have been less than five phones EVER that have used OLED technology.
Organic LED technology is VERY new and is just starting to trickle into consumer electronics. They promise very low power usage, incredible contrast and color range, very slim profiles, and even flexible displays. Although there is a lot of R&D in progress, the organic light-emitting layer still has a short lifetime (especially the blue component), and the manufacturing yields are still low. But within 3-5 years, I'd guess they will overtake LCD screens in small applications like cell phones.
I understand GPS in an airplane, we are going very, very fast and there are no street signs. But on the ground?

Besides, the current scheme with maps works indoors and GPS does not.
Street signs? Are you honestly telling me you would rather navigate around a city following street signs than using GPS? Maybe if you lived in a very rural area and never traveled, I could see why GPS wouldn't be a big deal.
But for everyone else in the world, It's the best thing since sliced bread.
GPS is especially useful when you are traveling for "getting your bearings" on where your hotel is in relation to everything else around you. It makes finding nearby businesses, restaurants, museums, parks, highways, etc a snap. I know I'm constantly using Google maps whether on my laptop or my crappy TREO. I can only imagine finally having GPS in an iPhone with real google maps. I can't wait!
