In case there was any doubt, The Wall Street Journal confirms that the Verizon Media Event on January 11th will feature the long rumored Verizon iPhone.
The largest U.S. wireless carrier will say Tuesday that Apple Inc.'s iPhone will be available to its subscribers, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The Wall Street Journal offers no additional details about when the Verizon iPhone will become available to the public.

Meanwhile, Gizmodo notes that they have not been invited to the event, despite having a good relationship with Verizon.
Here's what's key: We're great friends with Verizon. (Hi guys!) We've worked with them for years, and we've been to like every event they've had over the last three years. We haven't gotten an invite. Which is weird. We've reached out to Verizon to see why, exactly, we weren't invited, but we've gotten no comment yet. (Update: Verizon's official response is a big ol' no comment.)
Due to the iPhone 4 leak, Gizmodo has been blacklisted from Apple's media events, further suggesting that this is a joint Apple-Verizon event.

Only time will tell ;) I'm still very happy with AT&T and the roll over plans they offer.

These rumors are beyond absurdity now.

That said, as an AAPL shareholder, I am pleased to see the stock up a couple of dollars in after-hours trading.

As others have said, the WSJ has a pretty good track record for these rumors. It looks like it's finally happening, this time.

Oh god first threads now news post...what has science done...? ALSO it's most likely there release of LTE.

Mmmm. Still don't believe it. Tho I guess this is the first time with actual info instead of the bs for the past 4 years. Also what happened to the iPad? Why does it have to be an iPhone? Also wsj means nothing to me. The gizmodo thing is the only thing that does.

Poor Giz. iPhone 4 leak = banned from all future Apple events. Totally not worth it. I'll bet it burns.

I STILL say this is bogus. I think it's very clear that lots of whining will commence on January 11th.

I'm not so sure this is bogus. I mean why else would they be scheduling a media event right after they made all of their big Android phone and tablet announcements at CES? There has to be one more thing and unless it is to announce they are accelerating their 4G rollout I am not sure what it could be.

I don't know if it will happen, but if it does it is going to make the ones that claimed there would never be a CDMA iPhone look pretty silly.

Next major Verizon announcement:

Verizon is sorry that our network cannot handle the tremendous iPhone traffic. ;)

hm, makes sense. lately in alot of the job leads for a career service I work with have been seeing alot of Verizon related job openings show up in the past week and especially today quite a bit.

IDK, I love my iPad and on ATT havent had any issues with the coverage than again its not a phone device so i dont know much about experiencing dropped calls. I like the roll over minutes att has...VZ i dont think has that option and ive been with them for 8 years.

I wouldnt mind testing it out..but I'll definitely have to juggle which device I want a data plan with, as I love the iPad as my main mobile device when i dont have to take my computer with me anywhere.

tough choices ahead if it turns out to be true...

It could be the iPad on Verizon.

The iPad logic board does not have the cellular circuitry, just WiFi. 3G data (and GPS) functionality is provided by a daughter card, added to the units marketed as an iPad 3G.

It would be easy for Apple to create a CDMA daughter card for the iPad (my guess is that they've had working prototypes for well over a year).

Here's my question: What will everyone say if/when Verizon does NOT announce that it will be carrying the iPhone (on the 11th, at least)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... isn't AT&T's exclusivity supposed to end in 2012? Not 2011?

There's going to be a lot of forum regulars eating their words next week. I have all their usernames and im going to call them out on it.

Yes! About time!

At my work alone, there are more than just a few Verizon people waiting for this to finally happen, myself included.

Cant even imagine how much $ $ is sitting on the sidelines waiting for this to happen.
