Thats what I thought since it's suppose to be a 5 year exclusive.

5 years was a rumor, but was never confirmed.

Personally (and without anything remotely close to a source for this) I think Jobs felt severely burned by AT&T when they pulled the bait and switch on the unlimited iPad data plans almost immediately after the iPad started shipping. Any chance AT&T was going to keep most favored network status and negotiate extensions to the exclusivity contract disappeared after that stunt.

I can never tell if people here dislike Gizmodo because they just don't like the site, or because they dared cross the almighty Steve.

Next up...never ending T-Mobile or Sprint rumors.

No one cares about tmobile or sprint.... They will probably get the iphone eventually without much fanfare. (ps I have t-mobile so i'm not hating just don't think there are enough subscribers to be worth any significant rumors)

BOOOOOOO!!! This is totally basackwards! It should be an Apple event with Verizon's CEO joining Steve on stage! What is going on in the world???:confused::(:rolleyes:

This is VERY unApple like :(

If the iPhone is to move to T-Mobile & Sprint, I imagine that it will happen in 2012, when all of the major American carriers will be using their version of "4G". Then Apple could tout the iPhone as the only smartphone that works on all 4G networks.

That quote from Gizmodo looks like it was written by a 9 year old. I don't know how anyone can take them seriously with writing like that.

This is the end of the simple global iPhone. Now we're gonna have a Verizon iPhone and the GSM global iPhone. It's gonna get worse from here. You have to make a separate CDMA phone for each friggen carrier!!

I'm not happy with this at all. Verizon should have switched to GSM rather than Apple cowtow to Verizon CDMA

It's not a new Apple product. It's a port of their existing one. That's why

I find it amusing how quickly you change your opinion on this. In the previous thread, you were quick to state, "Steve jobs will not share the spotlight like this."

Really? This is what made you change your mind? There was plenty of evidence available before now. This just confirms it once again.

go read the sig and location info of the guy you are talking too. He hasn't got a clue......

GOD **** Wall Street Journal!!!

anyways... I was wondering....

facetime on 3g?

and data plan on verizon? will it be $30 per month for 2gb?! or would it cost even more lol

here is another option, maybe because they are dishonest and unethical?

if all of microsoft disappeared tomorrow i wouldn't miss them, but if some news org sight bought known stolen property in the form of a secret software from MS, i would still dislike that news site on the ground of a total lack of ethics...

This is groovy for all the Verizon kids & ATT switchers, but what happens when Apple releases the inevitable iPhone upgrade this June / July? I'd be a little aggravated locked into a 2 year contract in Feb with new hardware due out 4 months later..

I'll sell my iPhone 4 and buy it.

The same thing that happens with the BB, HTC, Samsung, WM's of the world. People will wait for the next best thing to be on their carrier or switch. It's quite simple...

Now, once there's a LTE iPhone, then perhaps Apple can consolidate the models.

In almost all countries where the iPhone has gone from single to multiple carrier, all carriers have gotten the iPhone. But then then in all these countries all carriers used the same technology.

I hope it was worth it Gizmodo.

How's the criminal investigation goin?

funny but they are now talked about more than ever!

If they had been invited to everything then no one would mention them but yet here they are all over this thread.

..and they actually get to confirm the scoop by NOT being invited!!

win for Gawker I'd say..

Gizmodo not getting invited definitely makes it look more likely. Not that i'd go to Verizon, but awesome news.

Next major Verizon announcement:

Verizon is sorry that our network cannot handle the tremendous iPhone traffic. ;)

Then how does Verizon handle the android data traffic pretty well? Android users use more data than iPhone users. GG.

Yeah, I can't see Apple releasing an updated CDMA iPhone so soon, unless the iPhone 5 is a CDMA/GSM phone.

Welcome to the world of Apple, Verizon!

Now go away. CDMA stinks. I also need global access.

CDMA is technologically superior to GSM when it comes to everything from building penetration, to management of resources. GSM just had a stronger foothold in Europe is the only reason it's bigger; CDMA is popular in Asia.

Won't happen. LTE won't be completed until 2013-2014. Verizon has to rely on their CDMA as a backup for quite some time. Apple will be forced to carry 2 models for many years.
