Here's my question: What will everyone say if/when Verizon does NOT announce that it will be carrying the iPhone (on the 11th, at least)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... isn't AT&T's exclusivity supposed to end in 2012? Not 2011?

Thats what I thought since it's suppose to be a 5 year exclusive.

Mmmm. Still don't believe it. Tho I guess this is the first time with actual info instead of the bs for the past 4 years. Also what happened to the iPad? Why does it have to be an iPhone? Also wsj means nothing to me. The gizmodo thing is the only thing that does.

Verizon is already selling an ipad... if your speaking of ipad2, then why would Verizon announce a new product from Apple?

WSJ = Apple Mouthpiece = Confirmed

I find it amusing how quickly you change your opinion on this. In the previous thread, you were quick to state, "Steve jobs will not share the spotlight like this."

Really? This is what made you change your mind? There was plenty of evidence available before now. This just confirms it once again.

Finally, the only reason I don't have an iPhone right now is because it wasn't on Verizon, and I know a bunch of other people who have said the exact same thing. Apple knows they had to go multi-carrier in the US to compete with Android. They're neck and neck in market share. If this is true, and everything is pointing to it being just that, it will definitely turn the tables.

Next time I'm up for an update, I'm going to have an iPhone. FINALLY.

*yawn* It'll still be stupid if it's exclusive to 2 carriers. Get it on T-Mo and Sprint too, Apple.

Woo-hoo! Let all of the AT&T iPhhone users head over to Verizon. That should free-up more signal for the rest of us.

I agree.
Also, I'd like to believe that competition between AT&T and Verizon for iPhone customers will result in lower rates for all of us, but the realist in me knows that over the past several years, AT&T and Verizon have come up with some sort of unwritten agreement that they won't get into price wars with one-another, maximizing profits for both.

Good news. Glad the iPhone is going to more carriers. I'm happy with the EVO and Sprint though. Sprint has the best mix of cheap, robust plans, and better coverage. I get NO Verizon signal at my house.

WSJ hasn't confirmed anything people... nothing except that there is still a "rumor". geesh

"...according to a person familiar with the matter." Is it really that hard to see this is in no way, shape or form a confirmation???

And to all who say WSJ has a good track record... well, they've also been known to post a lot of BS and spread rumors just like everyone else.

Your "confirmation", in one way or another, will not come until the 11th plain and simple.

Even the previously leaked iPhone 4 (although panning out to be true), was still a rumor until SJ spoke of it himself :p wow

1/11/11

I you do not believe that the Big Red iPhone will be announced - short both AAPL and VWZ -- both stocks were up today. The market prices announcements like this into the stock. Bogus non iPhone announcement will kill both stocks.

If you are a believer. Continue to prosper!

Gizmodo making it all about them of course.

Nobody cares giz. Macrumors please stop posting stuff about them.

That is correct, but IDK what the deal is...

We can hope that it's new MBPs with Sandy Bridge and integrated VZW data cards lol! jk, but seriously Apple, release the new MBPs asap! :)

See ya later ATT!!! It's been fun dropping calls with you!! And thanks for the slowest browsing speeds ever!!

WSJ has 'confirmed' this three years in a row and they still haven't been right. They have lost all credibility......

Gizmodo, take a deep breadth. Ah! That's the smell of black-list-ation. Looks like you'll have your face pressed up against the glass this time.

I think the reason why Macrumors posted the bit about Gizmodo is because Gizmodo has always been invited to every Verizon event, but this time they have not been invited and when they asked why Verizon said "No comment." This little piece of information could be seen as some as confirmation of a Verizon iPhone being announced or at least some sort of Verizon-Apple announcement.

Some folks just won't be convinced until Tuesday. Can't say that I blame them though. But it's pretty obvious that this will be the unveiling of the iPhone on Verizon.
