You are comparing a whole industry with the set-top box sales from one company. Xbox 360 sold 10 million. Oops that is less than Apple TV sales. Are you still "slow hand clapping"?

If you take out Nintendo who is already circling the drain, only about 24 million between Sony and Xbox who still have aspirations for their next gen consoles and enthusiastic potential buyers. Apple TV sales of 13 million, most of it during the last few years, does not sound so bad now. You can add Roku sales to the mix and now you've got a set-top market comparable in unit sales to consoles, without even considering the smart TVs and Blu-Ray players that integrate some of these set-top box functionalities.

Excuse me - WTF are you smoking?

http://bgr.com/2013/02/12/microsoft-xbox-360-sales-2013-325481/ -> 76 million 360s ITW with respective 24 million Kinects ITW

http://hothardware.com/News/PlayStation-3-Tops-70-Million-Console-Sales-Ties-Xbox-360/ -> 70 million milestone surpassed by PS3

Currently, I'm not only slow hand clapping, I'm facepalming.

AMD is doing fine with their graphics cards and they just got design wins on all 3 next gen consoles. It's their CPU side that's hurting.

I knew their CPU side has been hurting for a while. But at least their graphics cards kept their reputation going. Sure it'll be fine for a little while yet, but if they truly lost a significant number of their best engineers, then perhaps that spells trouble (think X2xxx and to a lesser extent X3xxx series)

They haven't, and in fact several high profile AMD people that have been working for Apple for years and were behind Apple's custom core have left back for AMD. Plus AMD's been grabbing people from Nvidia, etc. recently.
