A lot of the times in software development, revamping UI could also lead to feature changes/additions. So, I am keeping my hopes up that Ive's took this into consideration and made iOS more fluid at the same time.

Yeah it does not surprise me that people want graphic changes more than they want actual functionality changes, but that's not me.

Graphic changes actually sometimes directly relate to functionality changes.

So not interested. Will be keeping my JB iP5 for a looonng time it seems.

This is the other reason why I don't understand all of the ire and frustration. If you end up not liking iOS7 (or are just completely in love with iOS6 and skeuomorphism), don't upgrade? It's not like Apple is going to rip iOS6 out of your hands. Keep what you like and let everyone else make the switch. No need to lose your mind over it.

I was skeptical at first with the black, white flat title.
But after reading thru 9to5mac report now i'm excited about it.
Especially when they include the concept rendering.

Bring it on ive.

So basically, a single color theme... just the way Microsoft is doing these days, with everything. Can't say I am a fan of it...

What? The image I linked doesn't even appear similar to Windows. Their UI is extremely colorful. I dont recall ever seeing a white background with accented color on anything in my short test of Win8. The only one I can think of is the web version of Outlook, which isn't even very similar.

Regardless, Apple is changing their UI to look as clean and elegant as their hardware. You always have the choice to switch to Android or WP8 if you don't like the change. For each person who doesn't like it, there will be 20 that do.

Thread summed up:

"There will be design changes to iOS 7."

"Booooooooooooo!"

"There will be design changes to iOS 7."

"Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!"

What's a sensible fella like yourself doing in here? I don't think the Apple forums agree on anything.

Graphic changes actually sometimes directly relate to functionality changes.

Agree, I basically said the same thing. For example, if they took the tabs button away in safari and you have to swipe from bottom to up to activate tabs view. Or if they took the back and forward buttons away and added gestures. That would correlate to feature changes and UI.

This update is going to be awesome for a few reasons. iOS has been way TOO colorful from day one. I think the external colors should do it justice for people on the new iPods and such. But for iphone users it's a color overload. As a designer myself, colors deserve their purpose but we don't want to over do them like today's examples in phones i.e. windows phone. Here's an example of a phone design I realy like that maybe iPhone is trying to compete against. Black and White just looks classier, it always has in business and for being non distracting to the eye however readable and clear. No one says our apps won't stay the same however if what is said in this post is even half true then I'm amped up! :) Also the panorama pic wallpaper sounds like a great idea.

P.S. Here is a phone that probably none have heard about however its really nice looking. It was only sold overseas. Prada makes great products and this happened to be made by LG.

If you look at the latest iTunes it probably gives some indication as to what he is talking about. It has a flat look along with dark to light contrast.

Yay, more useless home screen icons

If this part is true:

"the possibility of FaceTime being moved out of the Phone app into a standalone app for greater visibility."

Its the opposite of simplicity. I'm tired of icons taking up my home screen I don't use. I have an entire folder full of preinstalled crap I can't get rid of -- all I can do is hide it in a folder I literally named "Worthless" (and then hid that folder inside of another folder to get it as far out of sight as possible).

Voice Memos, Passbook, Game Center, Apple Weather, Reminders, Apple Maps, Stocks, Compass, Notes, Contacts, Newsstand, and one more I'm forgetting at the moment.

So much for "simplicity". Why can't half these apps be built into other apps (I'm looking at you Compass and Contacts) if they are "necessary to core system operations" or whatever? Or better yet, let us install them if we want them (ala, iBooks -- looking at you Newsstand, Voice Memos, Notes, and Weather).

Can't wait to the keynote on June 10th. It should be very entertaining to see how Apple will introduce features that were available in Android for years as "revolutionary". I'm sure we will have a chuckle or two.

Also, if you look at the new Yahoo Weather app for example, this could be what they are going with as well. Also look at my post above if you haven't yet with the Prada Android OS.

Isn't the perfect example the music app on the iPhone in the 'Now Playing' view?

The text is white, the background is black, when you hit 'shuffle', 'genius' , or 'repeat' the button turns orange. Orange is the color of the music app icon, and is the color that corresponds to the music app.

Apple released to updated music app for the iPhone a while back, maybe testing some design ideas and to get feedback.

I can deal w/ minimum UI changes, but they really need to implement some new features !! We haven't heard a peep about that !

(good) taste (tst)
v. tast·ed, tast·ing, tastes
v.tr.
1. To hate on skeuomorphism.
2. To hate on Scott Forstall.
3. To love white, black or any shades of grey with minimal color accents.

Anybody who doesn't agree with this definition is either blind or living in pony land.

It will be black and white.

And if you place your finger on the fingerprint sensor, you will get 30 min. of color.
