At this point it would seem so. Might just be a bug for now though.

So those features will be incompatible with computers with Bootcamp partitions? That's disappointing. (And I wonder why the error message doesn't just say, "The following features are incompatible with Bootcamp..." if that's the case.)

Oh yah. Because of the new encryption method, there should no longer be issues from time to time that end up locking you out of your home folder, so... Yay! We can now use FireVault without fear (as soon as Lion is out that is).

Can any Beta Tester of Lion answer me if i´ll be able to safely encrypt my whole hard drive after upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard, and still be able to use Time Machine without having to logout to backup my data? I´m not using FileVault at the moment because of this inconvenience with TM.

Lol. I've never heard of anyone misplacing their computer to be honest... I guess it depends on how severely unorganized you are, but yah. Mac desktop owners probably have no use for this feature (you'd think).

What about that journalist who thinks he throw out his Brand new air with old newspapers when they were first released?

Worse he had an Apple review unit.

Ask any taxi driver.

I doubt it'll do anything against theft. Anyone who steals a laptop would probably replace the hard drive before attempting to use it or before at least going online somewhere. A GPS which is on board and can't be "cut out" would be amazing against theft.

Of course there was this guy

I wonder if the "Find my Mac" feature is for the enterprise clients? I can't see this feature being a big draw for consumers. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice feature... but how many consumers are not going to buy a Mac because the feature is missing, and will Apple make back the costs for developing and supporting this new feature.

But - big companies? I can see this appealing to them. They can buy Macs, or they can pay the subscription costs for a 3rd party application on another OS. I'd bet that the percentage of big client laptops with "Find My Mac" type paid applications is far higher than the consumer base.

So - I think it's to help push into the enterprise.

I first saw a recovery partition on an IBM ThinkPad years and years ago. It was also an enterprise machine.
