I thought that all phones were pretty much like this now
It's not that common in the UK other than on cellphones (and that's for text messaging) - for some reason it's one way of making easy-to-remember numbers that our advertisers never picked up on...

Sites I am currently refreshing every 5 seconds:
1) macrumors.com
2) apple store
3) apple order tracking page

....sigh, life is tough when you have too much time!:D

There are 3 letters above each number.

Example:

Some companies just take advantage of the letters being there and give out their number as 1-800 MY APPLE (which translates to 1-800 692 7753). It makes it easier to remember. I thought that all phones were pretty much like this now

Our mobiles are but we just use the letters for txt's as far as i know, pressing '2' twice to get 'b' etc, we don't use them for normal phones as phone no's as far as I know though newer land line phones may have the letters on the keys. Iguess in this system a, b or c is 2 not press 2 twice to get b like in text's

How about updated iMacs and reduced price iPods. That would satisfy about 80% of us.
That would work here - I want an iMac, the girlfriend wants an iPod (and I would be buying it for her in a "Yes, i *know* I shouldn't have spent £1400 on a new computer when I already have 7 of 'em, but here's a lovely gift" kind of way...).

it's a phone company thing.

not all countries have legislation to the affect. australia only got it's with the deregulation a few years ago.

So, pretty much what we anticipated, right? Too bad there aren't any iPod revisions... Damn you and your omniscience Arn! :D

You know what...you must be my long lost twin brother...just ask my wife if she's heard that a million times.

Her usual response though is WTF do i want that for?

Although maybe that has nothing to do with computers.
