I just laugh at Apple's revolutionary device that can still only run one app at a time and can't play flash media. It's quite hilarious really.

If a phone is just a phone to you, then why buy a smartphone? You're on the wrong forum if the iPhone is "just a phone" to you... you can get phones about 5 times cheaper than the iPhone with more minutes and texts.

I laugh at all the people who say the iPhone and Apple are garbage, when they are making billions of dollars and make some of the most popular devices.

I admit, running multiple apps at the same time and flash player would be nice, but I've gotten through 2+ years without them and I still have my iPhone. The phone does its job as a smartphone, and it does it better than many, if not all, competitors out there

Besides video-viewing websites, what good is flash on a mobile device such as a phone? The iPhone OS has such an extensive SDK, any developer could port their programs to the iPhone almost effortlessly. So, if you REALLY wanted to see things like FarmVille or YoPet on an iPhone they would have to develop an application. Playing those games, unported in their natural state, would be completely pointless. The screen would not be able to show everything and you would not be able to click stuff without panning and zooming. That sounds pretty pointless, and unattractive.

Apple sees that the only thing that would be flash-worthy on a mobile device is for viewing videos. These websites can port their videos to HTML5 or a compatible codec for the iPhone OS, much like a lot of sites have been doing.

first of all : competition is good for you and i !
but to the point : the iphone functionality and butter smooth UI is unmatched.
trust me i know : had htc touch pro for 1 yr, touch pro 2 for 6 moths.
and i did have a chance to play with htc hero and mytouch.
NONE of these come even close to the UI of my current 3gs.
UI lags is the #1 problem with the competitors. #2 problem is the lack of apps!

just a matter of time you get fustrated getting anything done on these phones (window mobile or Andriods)....even the simple task of taking a picture and sending it seems so laggy/slow compared to the iphone.

yes these devices are "powerfull" multitasking :but trust me: you wouldn't want to anyways since this only worsen the lagging problem !

and i have done pretty much everything possible to make these devices faster : custom roms, tweaks...etc

from what i've heard even the all mightly Nexus one UI is "faster" than the iphone but yet not as "smooth" as the current 3gs ! let alone the future 4g that's due in a few months!

and if anyone want to talk about customization: just jailbreak the iphone and the possibility is endless...you would have a headache from trying to choose whick apps or how do you want for iphone to look!

I used the iPhone OS for ages, and I think it's a brilliant OS, but there are some restrictions that annoyed me to the point where I sold it. I can't live without multitasking or flash. Other missing features at the time were also MMS, forwarding/deleting messages and a few others.

The only real advantage the current iPhone has over other phones for me is the massive selection of apps. I know that Android has a lot of apps too, but they're not as high a quality as those for the iPhone app store.

Really, you cant live without it? Because "multitasking" on a cell phone was unheard of just a couple years ago.

Really? I must have been dreaming about it then, when I was still using S60 phones... Nokia 7650 released in '02 already had multitasking.
