The serial number has not been shown to me on the order status page or any emails so I will just have to wait for it to come, should be friday. I'll let you guys known which one I get, where it came from, ect.

Apple will email you the serial number when it ships (and they charge your credit card). I ordered mine last week and should get it tomorrow or Friday. My serial number starts with G8541xxxxxx. G8 is in California, and sure enough punching my serial number into Apple's support page says it is a Mac Mini (Late 2005) as oppossed to Mac Mini. In addition, I found another post where a user stated that he received the new one a week ago and his serial number started with G8540xxxxxx... I will let you know :)

I can barely stand the wait...

Thanks for the info about apple emailing the serial number, now I won't have to wait in suspense for so long! Let us know which one you get when it comes. :) Congrats on your purchase btw

I went ahead and ordered my first Mac today (top of the line mac mini with 1GB RAM). I was really happy to see the 1GB RAM dropped to $100 (I paid $90 with my discount)... My shipping time looks to be about 5days (they are still processing the order but it looks like it will be at least 5 business days). I really hope this is the updated mini, and I feel pretty confident that I am getting one of the updated ones. I will let you know...

C'mon Apple, ship me my mini!

i might send my mini back in and ask for an upgrade, i believe they do that. i nearly got 1gb ram wheni brought mine but it was very expensive so i didnt

Ahh, this is the news I've been waiting for... an updated Mac Mini shipping from California. Looks like its time to place the order.

Thanks, you too :)

Waiting sucks.. I wish I would have purchased the two day shipping, but I also bought an airport express router so I wanted to save a few $$ with the free shipping.. I am sure your mini will ship soon :D

Well I am not 100% sure it is the new one (about 99% though)... As long as you get it built to order, I think you will improve your chances, but there is no guarantee it will ship from Cali.. Right??

hmm, my order just went from "preparing for shipment" to "processing"! Seems to be going backwards., I suppose "Order recieved" is the next step. (BTW, my mini was supposed to ship before or on TODAY!) arg wtf

Don't worry.. My tracking number, according to Fedex, shows that the last activity was on the 16th, and the status is "Package Data Trasmitted To Fedex". I called Fedex yesterday and they told me that the website is not accurate and that my package left California via truck on the 16th and should be in my hands by tomorrow.. I'll bet you will get an email any minute now saying your order has shipped. If you look carefully you will find your serial # buried in the email that you can check on Apple's website...

This will be my first Mac, and I cannot remember being this excited since I was 10 years old at Christmas :) Good thing my wife is out of town for a few more days so I can play with my new toy

I ordered a 1.25 mini last week and recieved it today. Everything stated 1.25, my order, the box, etc. BUT! When selecting "about this Mac" it shows that it is indeed a 1.33.

I ordered it through Apple and selected 1 gig of RAM.

Edit to add: My serial number is G8542XXXXX

Did your mini still come with the 32 MB of VRAM? I remember reading somewhere that the low end minis would still have 32 MB of VRAM. Can you confirm? Thanks.

I finally bit the bullet and bought the mid level Mini. This will be the first (hopefully not the last) Apple for my family. Everyone we know is curious to see how it goes. I chose to up the memory to 1 GB and added the wireless mouse/keyboard. I hope to find out in the next couple of days what the serial number is. Wish me luck.

ok it is a rumor but people are allready getting the new ones. I am one of those paranoid got to wait untill it's official type of guys. Typically for you mac experts about how long can you make you best guess the mini will be anounced? weeks days months?

it is greatly belived that the speedbumped minis have already been issued to some customers. it is also belived that not every new mini will have this speed bump, but for 0.8ghz is it realy worth waiting, it doesnt make me want to sell mine and get a new 1, as my mini works very quickly as it is.

if you have the money go for a imac or powerbook, thats where the money is if you ever want to re-sell. and both these new items are at a low cost for an excelent computer. personally i would get a pb and a monitor, bluetooth keyboard and mouse then you can have 2 computers in 1, a laptop for ease of carrying and a desktop. well worth the money

UPDATE
Oh boy.... So I called Fedex this morning to figure out what is going on with my package (Mac Mini) and was told that according to their records the mini has not even been picked up yet by Fedex (which is clearly a contradiction to what Apple has emailed me and told me on the phone this past Monday). Fedex told me to call Apple. So I called Apple (and was on hold for 30+ mi nutes) only to have them tell me that Fedex's website is not always accurate and that I should wait until the end of the day since I am supposed to receive my mini... I was not happy with this response from Apple. How the heck is Fedex supposed to deliver a package that they do not have scanned into their system? Anyway, the Sherlock at Apple told me that I have to wait until 8pm tonight before they can put a "tracer" on the pacage to determine where it is.. If there is a mistake, Apple will overnight a package to me. When I asked him when I can expect my mini if it is overnighted, he told me I would most likely not get it until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week since it is a custom build and that they will need 1-3 business days to prepare it for shipment.. When I asked Sherlock why does it take 3 days to put a stick of RAM into a computer at the assembly line he could not answer..

Anyway, I really hope the Apple customer care person was right and that Fedex is the problem here. But my gut tells me that I will be calling Apple tonight and demand that I have my mini delivered on or before Saturday since this was clearly their mistake. The fact that I called them this past Monday about the status of the order and them telling me that it was shipped will infuriate me if they come back and tell me that it was never shipped...

Sorry for the rant.. Not a good beginning from somebody making their first switch to Mac....

it looks like you have had a infortunate start, im very extreemly suprised if it is apple, if they say it will be befor a certain date it usually is, and they will let you know other wise (via email). i have ordered tons of stuff from apple, my mini mac was the longest to deliver, but it did still fall between the given date.

the reason it takes longer to make your mac, is becaus ehtye will have thousands built and boxed up, ready for shipment, and have a few thousand being made to specification, (which is why in the past many versions of a certan model was shown, as these were the majority to be delivered and would already be boxed up. we may see this again for ower books in the neer future) as your is a requested build, it will be added to the back of the production line untill it is boxed. then shipped. which explains the 3 days.

but i think the fault is with fedex im sorry to say. fedex arnt great, not the worst but not great. but i find i get a lot of apple stuff through parcel line. and im always happy with there service and prompt delivary. ask them to use parcel line. theyre a little more trustworh i would say.

huge bummer about the shipping problem. On my order, I finally received notification from apple (Shipment notification for order # 70XXX) of my order, but I still could not find my serial number in the email. Will there be another email from apple?

If I get it now, I can check on support.apple.com if I get one of the minis manufactured late 2005, including the processor upgrade, hard drive speed upgrade, and double vram. I'm impatient too!

What i'd like to know is whether these new revision C Minis solve the VGA/DVI display problems.

I just checked all my emails from Apple, and you should get the serial number in a seperate email for the invoice order. I received my invoice email (which contained the serial #) the day after I received my shipment email. Sorry should have been more clear...
