Agreed. That's why I'd like to see a 12", 15", and 17" series of aluminum Macbooks, that are available online with custom BTO options, as well as standard models that are in stores. The "Pro" means a larger screen and dedicated graphics, and that doesn't seem very "Pro" to me. The "Pro" line should be dropped.

Idea:
14" MacBook: $999
Unknown size MacBook Air: $1299
16" MacBook $1499
18" MacBook $1799

All Aluminium and 16:9 ratio, 14" MacBook has Integrated/Dedicated hybrid Nvidia GPU. 16" MacBook has mid-end GPU and 18" MacBook finally has an high-end GPU.
MacBook Air would have the same GPU as the 14" MacBook. All models of the MacBook and MacBook Air use custom nVidia chip-sets with Intel processors.

I like to talk like this all the time. ;)

That would be great. Good GPU lineups, and prices are actually quite reasonable and in line with other manufacturers. I like the idea of all nVidia GPU's and nVidia chipsets. Only problem is how convenient a 12" model would be. I know users hated it when the 12" Powerbook was dropped. Perhaps the MBA could become a 12"? Or would a 12" Macbook be better?

MacBook Air should be 12".
So, a perfect line-up:
12", 14", 16" and 18".
Choose whatever suits you best. :)

How about an IPS screen with 100% LED RGB Adobe color gamut for the macbook pros? Sony just came out with this in there 18.4" AW laptop. The "pro" line could really be called a "pro" line with a screen like that.

That would be required if the "Pro" line is ever to be considered: "Pro".
The MacBook "Pros" need them.

If they are going with discreet GPUs and aluminum cases/backlit keyboard I see no point in a MBP.

Unless the MacBook Pro can be used with 30" Cinema Display, has an Blu-ray drive and really better dedicated video cards (I mean high-end not mid-range). But still, those are still not enough to persuade some people to buy the MacBook Pro. ;)

Well, I don't see Apple retiring the MBP name, so my only guess could be a substantial upgrade of components, because I also don't see the 17/18" MBP going for $1799, either.

Here's hoping at least!
