You think that would have a "major impact" on case manufacturers?
Maybe the next iPhone with have inductive charging, and/or a case that allows the same ... ?

Guess you weren't excited when iphone 2g launched. Or are you saying iphone releases don't excite everyone(including non-apple people)? If anything your comment is the total opposite of the effect apple presentations have had these so many years. Your comment simply makes no sense. Just coz you don't own something, it doesn't mean you don't know anything about or can't be excited for that product.
So the Boss makes a proclamation that 'Apple is doubling down on security". Really? Seriously?
It begs the question: when will the 'doubling down' be implemented.
There seems to be more credible info on the new ip5 than any of its predecessors.

Why would they release the Ipad 4 THIS year?
I use the Alesis iO Dock for recording. A new dock connection would render it useless. I also have a stereo dock for my iPhone that will become useless. But more importantly, I'm going to be very reluctant to buy any more high-priced accessories for iOS devices. When I pay a couple hundred dollars for an accessory, I expect to get more that one or two years of use out of it.
Why would they release the Ipad 4 THIS year?
Because the third generation iPad was crippled? Lacked Siri at launch and only supports 4G in the US. I for one was so disappointed with the third iPad that Im still using a first gen.

I think those will be in Oct/Nov. This fall/winter is going to be a fun one!![]()
Next thing you know Google will be selling a 7" tablet and Android phones will have kickstands since everyone copies Apple.
You will have paid $600+ for your cell phone. Do you not expect to get more than one or two years use out of it? Why are you so willing to toss your phone, which costs 2-3x the accessory, but not the accessory itself?

In regards to the iPad mini, I'm sold on it for my daughter. I have been hesitant to even buy an iPad for myself, since my daughter would probably want to use it as often as I would. However, a $200 or so smaller iPad would be perfect price- and size-wise. It might take the place of the iPod touch a parent would normally buy for their child.
The perfect iPod Nano = 5G (last clickwheel model) + radio + 32G Max![]()
Except that this is not a 7" tablet. It's really an 8" tablet. It has a display area that's roughly equal in size to a hypothetical 8.1" Android tablet, which is significantly(~40%) larger than the currently available 7" tablets. I don't know why people keep using that misleading diagonal number. I understand your desire to get back at Apple and the supporters by using "Apple is copying Google" logic and I do think Apple is copying them to an extent, but this is a significantly different product from the 7" tablets for the reason I've stated above.
I would laugh if the Iphone stays 3.5" and the Ipad mini doesn't show up.![]()
I can see how a new dock connector could cause quite a bit of pain for a few years, mostly for users. I use the Alesis iO Dock for recording. A new dock connection would render it useless.
