Pre-ordered the plus when Verizon site eventually allowed me to... probably around 3:08am-3:10am est., and email shows delivery for 10/5 :(

Hoping I get lucky and I get it Friday, but don't have high hopes.

Yep, happens every year. The next "crisis" for people will be "I haven't received a tracking number and it's a few days away from delivery!!!!!!"

I got 6-8 business days for my 32GB matte black 7+. First time I've ever pre-ordered and not gotten a launch day delivery date, and I was in as soon as the Apple Store App would let me (just like every year).

Not going to sweat it though. We'll see what happens.

Same here. Never had an issue getting a phone on launch day, and I've done this every year since the original iPhone. This year is the only time I've been quoted a date (27th-29th) outside of release day. I'm hoping Apple will surprise and delight.

You ordered 2 hours passed the pre-order release and still got 2-3 weeks better than I did? I ordered 20 minutes into the pre-order...
Did you order directly from Apple? And this is the flat black not jet black. I checked at 7AM and they still showed the same 2-3 weeks. What is your date?

Ordered from Apple, via the APP.

I got the Jet Black 7+ 128gb, which probably explains your earlier date for flat black? But damn, 2 hours later? By the time even 30-40 mins after, Jet Black was showing ship dates for November already on Apple's website.

What carrier do you use and how have you tried to preorder in the past? That does make a difference also.

Apple most of the time, AT&T a couple of times (most recently). But I've also monitored MacRumors forums each launch season, and more people report getting their phones inside the launch window rather than before it. Generally Apple gives a date range and ships at the earlier end of the range which is nice, but I've only seen them beat it on occasion.

It is possible they have chosen to be more conservative than before. We'll see. I hope so. Just don't count on it. They have a staggering number of waiting customers to serve.
