Not to be rude but you're crazy if you think carrier stores would have better stock and selection than Apple retail shops.

That might not necessarily be true this year. Remember, Apple made additional units available to iPhone upgrade program customers who weren't able to preorder last Friday. Those were likely taken from stock that had been reserved for walk in customers. Carrier stocks would not have been affected by this so it is possible they might be better than Apple's own stores this year.

I could be wrong about this, but it seems like they are just trying to get away from the days of long lines on launch day. I know Angela Ahrendts has hinted at this in the past and this seems like a move in that direction.

Dear Lord let this be the case.

I've posted this before, but everything should be by pre-order or in-store reservation, at least for the week or two.

Not saying the launch day in-store experience is bad, but there should be no reason get up at 0 dark 30 and play retail store roulette just to get the phone you want.

Varies between location, do you have a Verizon corporate store near you?

I know for a fact, definitely will have iPhone 7s in stock, but a limited supply of iPhone 7 plus.

Chances are slim, but you'll need to be one of the first in line.
Yes I do and I can most probably be first in line. What time should I start standing in line ?

I'll be at my local ATT store around 6:30 this evening. Never did I think I'd have to wait at an ATT store for more then 12 hours but looks like this might be the only way to get a black plus.

It's too late.

Really even at a carrier store that is mostly empty ?

I was thinking of going early in the morning like at 2 or 3 in the morning.

Depends on where you live. I'm in a suburb in NJ..if you get to carrier store at 2-3 in morning, you'll be first in line and have no problem getting any model you want. I have a friend working for Verizon that told me they will be getting all models though the + will be very limited.

Not sure why some people are posting that carrier stores not getting any stock..of course they are or they wouldn't be opening their stores at 8:00am compared to the 10:00 am they normally. That would be funny.."Hey come on in at 8:00 am but we have no stock!"

No 7 Plus stock, no jet black, and limited stock in the other colors. And the reason they open at 8 AM is for people who reserved online. That alone will be a massive queue.

This could be different because it sounds like less supply this time but I have found for a couple years now that you can usually walk into a Best Buy on release day and pick up the new iphone without a pre-order.

Not true..I already confirmed. It don't matter to me if you believe or not. You are posting as fact and you're wrong. I'm sure some areas are different than others and it may be true in your case..

Where has it been confirmed that carrier stores won't receive any plus stock? All I've seen is speculation from employees posting on here.
The Apple statement was just for Apple retail stores.

Let's think about the timeline of what happened here.

1. Most IUP were unable to reserve a phone when the pre-order went live. Most people are interested in iPhone 7 Plus and the Jet Black colors.
2. People are outraged over not being able to reserve for IUP, and it seems new customers were given priority.
3. Apple releases more stock for most/many IUP customers.
4. We hear iPhone 7 Plus and Jet Black won't be available for walk ins on launch day.

Can anyone put 2 and 2 together?

Nope. They must purchase the scalped ones on eBay.

They stated that preorders of 7+ are sold out and the walk in inventory will be limited. So basically, the same as what we thought on Monday.

You may have better luck at carrier stores, but anyone who finds a JB on Launch Day should go play lotto immediately after that because it's their lucky day!

I already have an active pre-order (10/4), so I have nothing to lose but time. I had planned on using the AUP, but if AT&T has the phone I want, I'll just use Next. Since I am somewhat flexible with the colors (with the exception of Rose Gold), I should be able to find something I like for a year or so.

The exact opposite has been stated. Apple, or whoever is putting out this story, actually recommends trying carrier stores.

My apologies. I didn't see that you had specified carrier stores.

Why don't you call the store right before they close to make sure they even have a black 7 Plus?

My guess would be, if you preordered early (like, right at 3 AM) and haven't had your phone ship by tomorrow, then you're not going to be able to find that phone at a carrier store or an Apple Store either. Seems like it'll just be indicative of an overall stock issue since you were so early in the ordering process.

Won't work unless you have an "in" They are all instructed to not say anything. They will say they don't even open up the stuff till after store closes tonight

You just have to be a good talker on the phone. The guy told me they received a box of 7's but no Plus yet. He said call back later tonight to get an update on the Plus.

They're instructed not to say how many models they have. But if you explain to them before you wait outside all night could be please tell me if you even have the X model available they'll more than likely help you out.

This is what I'm hoping for - a vague answer to "If I want x model iPhone 7 Plus, would I be wasting my time by spending a night in a chair outside of your store?" :p

You would think with a giant company like Apple they would be able to correctly estimate demand and produce enough units that anyone could walk into an Apple or carrier store on launch day, or launch week, and be able to get whatever color/config they want. They should also know by now that the new colors are always the most in demand. So why the shortage of Jet Black? I got my pre-order in during the first 10 minutes and my delivery date is still September 23 or after. I know the assembly lines can only crank out so many units a day but it's still ridiculous having to go through this every year. Really at this point no one should have to get up at 3 in the morning or camp out overnight to get an iPhone.
One, I believe the production yield of Jet Black models isn't very high.

Two, launch demand for iPhones is pretty insane compared to the rest of the year. I'm not sure how practical it is to have facilities that can handle delivering 100% of launch demand but will then be operating at just 50% capacity for the rest of the year.

I will be verifying with my local Apple Store first.

I will then check with my local AT&T stores, Best Buy, and Target. Although JB is a long shot (or impossible), I'm sure somebody has to have some 7+'s...hopefully...

I already have an October 4-10 preorder, so I won't die if I can't find one tomorrow/this weekend.
