Honestly I think this is the nexus 5 , it's odd there has been no leaks of any nexus 5, none! If this price point is right it's going to make the Google edition phones look way overpriced. Now I understand the budget iPhone thing to compete with the MX!

I don't know about that. Google did say they are continuing the nexus line.

With all the leaks of the supposed official specs, I have to think back to when Dennis Woodside spoke at D11 and said:

"I'll save the details for later, but [the industry issue of] battery life is a huge problem. Motorola has some of the world's best engineers and systems designers who spend their lives on that problem. There are two processors in the device that creates a system that allows you to do such a thing."

What really interests me is how he mentioned two processors, yet there's been no leaks about it.

I guess this is what he meant - http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/23/4549060/motorola-using-its-own-8-core-chip-in-new-droids

Not too exciting...

Just a little summary of the X8 SoC that will probably be in the Moto X -

X8 SoC - modified Krait hardware from Qualcomm (likely MSM8960T) - there are eight cores: dual-core CPU, quad-core GPU, a low-power core, and all for voice/language processing in Google Now and Motorola's custom features.

Honestly, why do manufacturers even advertise a quad-core GPU...

It looks like it will in fact have an AMOLED screen.

Here is another version of the video from a few months ago, but this one has English captioning.

At 1:35 the reviewer says, "I'm not certain of the screen technology but my guess is a Super-AMOLED or an OLED screen, judging with my eyes."

Also, here is someone on Twitter who has leaked accurate information in the past. He said his source didn't like the screen because it is AMOLED.

This is very disheartening. Last year's Droid Razr HD had a 4.7-inch 720p HD AMOLED screen, and it was an absolutely disgusting screen.

No!!!!!!! Not amoled

I know the feeling. I hadn't even considered that it might be AMOLED. I thought with it having midrange specs they'd put an LCD in it. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. There is no way I'll move from an iPhone 5 to something with a 720p Pentile AMOLED in it.

Edit: I see that the new Droids are not Pentile, so at least that is a plus. But last year the oversaturated colors were horrible. The Razr HD looked like the GS4 does on it's most vibrant setting, but there was no setting to change it.

This will launch on 4.2.2, so when 4.3 update rolls round, this should change.

It may not change. If they are using a different UI in 4.2, they may continue using a different UI in 4.3.

well, i respect your opinion but in my view $300 are fine for a mid-range phone.

Theoretically, but Motorola considers this to be their new flagship, not a midrange device.

Also, look at the new DROID Ultra. Specs are nearly identical to the Moto X, except the Moto X has a slightly larger battery. And the Ultra is $200 ON contract. Sorry, but it is not looking like it will be $300 off contract. However, I would love to be wrong about it.

Considering who the latest $299 price leak come from, it seems pretty likely now. I just wonder if it will be like the Nexus 4 pricing and be more expensive from carriers but cheaper directly from Google.

Some people don't like the color accuracy - often over saturating. The real problems were more in the past when screens were pen tile ...

Beat me too it. I think at this point it's more about personal preference. Some people like the bright colors that 'pop' and the deep blacks produced by AMOLEDs. I personally prefer IPS LCD color accuracy (seems more natural) and find AMOLED's a bit too dim, especially in daylight.

A dollar more than $300 and this phone will not sell. 2012 specs with a 720p screen in a huge, chunky, thick case.

I like the idea of OLED, but I've yet to see an AMOLED screen that looks good to me. I've never seen a HD non-Pentile screen before, so maybe this won't look as bad is the Razr did last year.
