but the rumour (on the main page of this thread says) it might sell for $199 off-contract, but i agree with you, $199 off-contract is too low, the $300 price tag seems more likely.

I disagree. The GS4 Mini is $220 more and has worse specs. The Moto X will cost more than $300 off contract.

I just saw this:

http://androidcommunity.com/moto-x-pricing-tipped-to-undercut-the-nexus-4-20130722/

There is a possibility of a 16gb and 32gb @ $299 and $349 respectively.

I have been itching to get back into the android game and was close to buying one of the GPE phones. I did not want to spend an arm and a leg on a secondary phone.

That would be a very nice price point, indeed!

Agreed--happy to eat my words if this is true.

On the other hand, coming up with an excuse for my wife why I need to pick up yet another phone...not so simple. ;)

If it's true, it really does change things quite a bit. If I could sell my HTC One Dev Edition, pick up the 32GB Moto X, I would lose half the storage but still have enough to be happy with and have all the other supposed benefits of the Moto X. I would likely have some cash left over too.

And good bye HTC and their utter joke of an update schedule, joke of a camera, and joke of a home button configuration.

If it's all true.

Oh, I have no plans on selling my HTC One DE, just can't resist picking up a new toy to play with--$650 per device limits this bad habit, $350 and the temptation is probably too much. :D

In all seriousness, I'm not sure I can go back to 32GB, the home configuration doesn't bother me (will even less after 4.2.2), I love the display, IR blaster, and Blinkfeed. I'd like a better camera but, don't rely on it very important shots. The update schedule would bother me more if I ever planned on sticking with a phone for more than 6 months but, realistically I know that's not likely.

What does intrigue me is the supposed optimized user experience.

Looks quite different from the 4.3 camera interface.

Agreed, but I was particularly referring to the pin wheel UI like in stock android. This looks a little more sophisticated. I'm sure there will be more leaks leading up to the August 1st event, so we'll probably find out more sooner rather than later. There seems to be a leak everyday here lately.

Ya, the wheel does remind me of the 4.2 camera UI. But Google decided to abandon a wheel in 4.3. Who knows, maybe Motorola was out of the loop ;)

This is literally the first mid-range/mid-range specs that I really want. It is moto's return, and before the touch-screen era Moto was beast. And I really like the design, no more kevlar, this could really shape up for Moto AND NEXUS, as it is very close to stock, and people liked Moto a lot, and so people will see touchwiz etc and go WTF? Stock is better and has quicker updates.
Specs list if anyone hasn't put them down yet, sorry if they have:
Processor: 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960DT, dual-core) processor
Display: 4.7-inch display, reads as 4.5-inch because of on-screen nav buttons (1184×720 resolution)
RAM: 2GB RAM
Cameras: 10.5MP rear, 2.1MP front
Battery: 2200 mAh
Storage: 16GB internal storage (no microSD slot)
Other: NFC, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi
So the specs are very good. The CPU if you are wondering benches around 1900 on Geekbench around Nexus 4 standards.
I really like the design, and hope the INT version gets the quality build that we have seen with US variants.

Also I hope that Nexus 5 IS MOTOROLA! Yes, many people wouldn't have said that before this phone was outed. But with these specs running so smoothly, imagine a top-range Nexus.

This will launch on 4.2.2, so when 4.3 update rolls round, this should change.

Rumored price points are great. Performance and features seem great so far. I don't want to be a buzz kill but what about updates? Unless it sits in the Google play edition section then I personally would be a lot less inclined to buy.

I can see where Google now could stand to be improved for sure. I guess it isn't meant to be a personal assistant like siri is.

----------

Actually, this is really the first time I'm exploring Google Now deeply.

It's clearly not meant to be a personal assistant like Siri. It's more about getting information to you automatically, which makes perfect sense for a company like Google.

All the voice commands feel like they're there for the extra features, and as such, I definitely can see how Google now should improve if they want these extra features taken and used seriously.

Google Now=AI
Siri=Used to be AI
Story behind it
Siri was going to be a VA AI, and was being made for Droid devices, and it was 99% there with ads and everything
Apple intervened, took it, stripped it of it's AI, so now:
Google Now=Very useful AI
Siri=VA yes, but no AI involved, and not very useful.

GN>Siri.
Siri is a cheap toy. GN is a tool.

I can also see how GN can use the extra features, and I would love some AFL/Australia support. But 90% of the stuff I use on GN, not sure how it is on iOS, probably not as good, but android it is amazing.

The most reliable specs yet, taken from DROID LIFE AND ANDROID POLICE, the arguably, to best and most reliable android news sites.

Processor: 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960DT, dual-core) processor (benches as high as N4, and s600 chips)
Display: 4.7-inch display, reads as 4.5-inch because of on-screen nav buttons (1184×720 resolution)
RAM: 2GB RAM
Cameras: 10.5MP rear, 2.1MP front

Price is reportably $300 and $249, the same as N4 I believe, but if that is true, the N5 is going to be more, otherwise what would be the point of the MX.

The thing I don't get is if Google owns Motorola now why wouldn't this phone get the latest Android updates right away, like the Nexii?

There are probably some small Motorola-ish tweaks in there.

And I guess Google doesn't want to "scare" other MRU like Samsung and HTC by playing favorites in some ways.

BUT... I do believe the Moto X will get timely updates. I think the Google Edition S4 and One were there to appease Samsung/HTC fans of updates, which lines them up perfectly to appease Moto fans of updates for the MX.

At least, that's my hope.

Price Rumor!

$299 16GB

$349 32GB

That sounds like a winner! This us exactly where they had to be to make this a big impact phone. Nexus pricing with a flagship sized marketing budget.

Didn't see CaleM3's post above, just saw this browsing flipboard and had to get it into this thread ;)

I'm both impressed and excited to see what they've accomplished. The UI is refreshingly different, which is just what we need in this space.

It's the right combination of specs and price to draw interest from those who want something fresh and new.

This is one phone I can't pass up, I've already seen enough to decide I'm a buyer upon its release.

Honestly I think this is the nexus 5 , it's odd there has been no leaks of any nexus 5, none! If this price point is right it's going to make the Google edition phones look way overpriced. Now I understand the budget iPhone thing to compete with the MX!
