I own a Moto X and an iPnone 5s and I like both for different reasons, but at the end of the day I do lean toward my iPhone. I am a bit of a weirdo with my phones and like to switch back and forth a lot. But at the end of the day some apps just run better on iOS then android, hence why I lean toward my iPhone more. That being said the Moto X is a very underrated phone and I think people see the customization as a gimmick and don't give the phone a fair chance. It is a very efficient phone responsive and fast. And I love the fact that it's running nearly stock android no real bloatware and just enough tweaks to give me great functionality. Google now voice controls are awesome and are very accurate. I like the fact that I can control the whole phone with out touching it. One thing I don't like about my iPhone is Siri and I hardly use it. Call me lazy but after getting used to Google now (and not having to hit a bottom to use the voice commands) the iPhone in that aspect seem out dated. The battery life hands down on my Moto X is the best I have every seen I constantly was getting 36-37 hours on one charge. The build quality on the Moto X is also very solid.

So you get better battery life on your Moto X than 5S? That surprises me. I don't have a Moto X, but most of the reviews that I've read say the battery life is pretty mediocre. It's one of the 2 things that have put me off the phone. The other being the camera.

It's weird with the Moto X. Many reviews complain about the battery life but most users like the battery life. Check out Anandtech's review on Moto X, they found it to have battery life on par with other flagships at the time (HTC One and S4).

The battery life on my X is really close to my S4. However, I find that I browse the web and forums on my S4 more than my X so the S4 may be a bit better. My X is a great phone and the only time I pull it out of my pocket is to get something done. It is a great little device and I don't use my S4 much anymore. I was always changing the homescreen or the launcher on my S4 but on the X I haven't installed a launcher nor have I found a need to. It does everything I want it to stock and as is.

All the reviews use wifi battery life. On mobile signal the phone gets pretty bad battery compared to the iPhone.

I mean don't get me wrong I get about a day worth of usage on my iPhone no problem but with the Moto X I can go a day or more.

Is the call and speaker volume low on this phone like the Moto G?

I think both are great on the X.

But I am coming from a Nexus 5 which was pretty awful on the speaker side so the difference may seem overstated to me....

I'm planning to upgrade to a Moto X at the end of April (when I have my upgrade)

After 6 iOS devices (2 iPod touches, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPads) across 6 years and 6 iOS versions, It's time to make the jump to Android, and the Moto X seems to be the most inviting. It has an AMAZING camera and it's one of the smoothest Android experiences (even better than Nexus devices from what I've heard) and I can avoid crappy bloaty UIs for the most clean experience.

I think I'm in love with it honestly. I can't wait to get one.

Said no one ever.

It's certainly not amazing, but it is quite good.

I know this will be somewhat subjective, but where does Moto X camera sit relative to iPhone cameras? Based on what I've read, I'm assuming iPhone 5 and 5S have better cameras but perhaps not 4S. Is that a reasonable assumption?

i would say the 4s camera is even a little better than the moto x's.

I would put the camera roughly on par with the iPhone 5's

That is just insane. The moto x camera is decent in outdoor conditions and just flat out dreadful indoors or with low light. To compare it to the 5s camera should be a crime haha. I would say it has probably the worst camera of any flahship released in 2013.

He didn't compare it to the 5s, he compared it to the 5.

even so, it cannot hold a torch to either. Colors from photos are so inaccurate and the amount of noise is just unbearable IMO. Obviously a camera is not that important to everyone, but if it is a concern definitely look elsewhere.

iPhone is pretty much the gold standard for smartphone cameras these days, aside from the ones on the Lumia phones. I would not put the Moto X anywhere near it in terms of quality. But it is a decent camera.

iPhone 4 in my opinion.
