And I might have gotten something wrong about the display - the reviews I read said the display is AMOLED and doesn't look all that good; that it was a mid range display in terms of brightness and color reproduction. The moto engineer seems to imply the opposite. I'll therefore have to see it in person to have an opinion.

If the screen is worse than the top end Samsung/iPhone ones, this device will fail. If it's great, it's got a chance. It's the most important feature on this phone IMO.
