I still cannot believe that I submitted my up to date request this morning and I STILL have not gotten my code.... What's up apple?

I got the "this code has already been used" error. Then the response I got to my email about it was just a rehash of the directions.

I gave up and purchased it. Next week I'll call in and try to get reimbursed.

Problem with Screensaver in 10.8

On 10.7, I had my screensaver set to choose photos at random from my large (220 GB) collection. The photos were arranged in the following way:

[2001 Photos]

[January 1 - Event 1]
[January 4 - Event 2]

[2002 Photos]

[January 2 - Event 1]

And so on.

10.7 and before handled this just fine, but 10.8 will not - I have to choose a folder containing only photos. That is, unless I choose one of my "event" folders, the screen saver won't recognize the folder - making for a monotonous screen saver, consisting of photos drawn from only one event. Is there any way to force the computer to recognize groups of folders, rather than just one?

Xmarks

Anyone know how to get XMARKS working again now?
This update has ruined all my bookmark settings that I had the way I wanted it with XMARKS

Because you previously paid for it and are still entitled to your purchase. Apple can't legally yank a purchased piece of software from you even if obsolete.

Yes they can! I purchased iMovie '11 early last year. Then early this year an upgrade made it Lion-only. I could no longer download the original from the Mac App Store for my Snow Leopard machine. An email from Apple stated: "Apple is not response for the loss of any purchases or the loss of the ability to update an older app version. We encourage customers to back up their hard disks regularly. If an item needs to be replaced, you can restore your purchases from the backup and avoid the need to purchase replacement copies of titles from your collection. That is why we strongly recommend customers back up their purchases on a regular basis." Note also that their solution was to upgrade to Lion!

Airplay mirroring

I've seen several people say that Airplay mirroring only works with newest (2012) machines. This was the single feature I was looking forward to with Mountain Lion. I have a 2011 iMac (the current generation). Does Airplay mirroring work with the current iMacs? (entry level 27 inch, 2.7 ghz, i5)

It seems very arbitrary that Apple would cripple this feature to all but the newest machines. Clearly there is no technological reason for it.

Well i stand corrected.

mountain lion didn't install any new wallpapers for me...anyone else this happen?

Nope, same wallpaper. Everything was fine after upgrade, although I didn't get Parallels upgraded beforehand. I dl'ed the update after with no issues.

Anyone having issues with notifications?

I upgraded today, and it's great, but a few hiccups:

I can't get Mail notifications working. I've tried everything. Toggling on and off, having mail open, closing it, etc. Everything seems to be updated, but every time I send myself a test email, no notification. What gives? Anyone else having this problem?

Does the free upgrade only eligible in US?

I bought the Mac after June 11 2012 and I am suppose to be eligible right ?

i am very happy

My Favorite feature of ML so far (and completely unexpected):

My MBA (11" 2011) now wakes from sleep almost instantly -- the screen comes on in less than a second and is immediately responsive. Before ML, the screen would come on quickly, but the system was frozen for roughly 5 sec. It's surprising how much of a difference those few seconds make. It feels so much nicer now... I don't want to ever go back!

No RSS screensaver?

Are you kidding me? My MBP sits on my desk while I mix records in ProTools on my MacPro all day... Maybe I should've looked into this before i upgraded the MBP but one of its principle uses was displaying the RSS screensaver so I could keep up with the news as I work! Why the hell would they take away such a basic piece of functionality?!?!?!?!

Notifications aren't working...

I can't get any notifications so far. Not sure if I'm missing something simple. The icon in the top right is greyed out and when I swipe into notifications, there's nothing there. Went into System Pref but couldn't find anything of use. Any ideas?

I have an early 2008 iMac and wow I've noticed an increase in speed that I haven't seen since Leopard that was original installed on my iMac. Snow Leopard was quick too but Lion was pretty sluggish. I can't get over how fast Sarfari is now too, super quick! Good job Apple. :)

For $20 Mountain Lion is 100% worth it.

Do you install it on top of Lion or fresh install?

----------

Update: Nevermind. Seems like people who already purchased it can still redownload it!

How about people who got Lion from purchasing Mac?

----------

Another thing I like about Mountain Lion is that now it doesn't "auto save" and there seems to be less of a focus on the "Resume" feature.

Wow! Really? No autosave? I don't upgrade then.

You're right! It's gone!

----------

I think Mountain Lion is one of Apple's best updates. It runs (at least on my mac :D) better than Snow leopard did, and is much more stable than Lion was. I'm really glad I made the purchase and I definitely think it was worth it!

Again, do you install it on top of Lion or fresh install?

How nice. I never got past the "Mountain Lion OS is not compatible with your computer". I'm SO SORRY, Apple, that I keep my computers for 6+ years. My mid 2006 MBP is just too old to support anymore huh? Wow, what great longevity of your products. Why don't you just implant a self-destruct chip so that the $2k laptop just implodes after a year so you have to buy a new model.

Windows, Papa is comin' home after a brief affair for 6 years.

Apple is going downhill fast. Who the hell uses all this iCrap software?Kindergartners? It's useless junk.

Really?? Since when have you seen a PC go thru a few OS upgrades and still work. Not me. Prior to Apple, my PCs would last for a year maybe 2 years. Then, time for a new one.

I installed mountain lion on my MacBook 2011( early version) it took an hour with fast Internet connection. Still need to see how it works.

Mountain Lion has made huge improvements to how Safari handles Flash, especially when playing YouTube content in full screen at 1080P, it's so much smoother than it ever has been.

I initially had some issues logging into websites with Safari but running the ML Beta version of Onyx cleaned that up quickly.

I can't wait for iOS 6 to see all of the new integration Apple has made there.

This is the first time since SL that I've thought they've perfected their OS, it will be hard to upgrade from ML for fear of losing the speed and smoothness in performance.

game centre

Interesting to see that the Game Centre STILL looks like it was designed by a PC. Come on Apple.

I'm in Russia and I did receive the upgrade code for Lion last year. I scanned my iMac purchase receipt and sent it to Apple, all according to instruction.

So i assume its no different for ML ^_^

If your system was running Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista, you can upgrade to windows 7. To put it in time perspective, it's about 8 years. Windows will never prevent you from installing its system. If your computer is weak, it will be laggy, and you'll need to upgrade some hardware/buy a new computer.

This should be a free update.

This should be a free update.

It looks like they just took some features from the iPhone and put them on the mac. And also, I have been enjoying all the new features of Safari by using Chrome for quiet a while now. As for iCloud, I'm also already getting those "cloud" functions and more by using Evernote, Chrome, and Dropbox. Nothing new besides those things mainly? If I'm missing something new and dramatic please tell me. I think that my prediction that since the great visionary and artist Steve Jobs is gone Apple will gradually lose their mojo. I sincerely hope they don't.

This should be a free update.

:(

Windows 7 Basic runs as fast as XP so it could probably be installed on a 2002 PC, although Windows XP can run most Windows recent apps. On the Mac side, we couldn't speak the same about a 10-years-old OSX.
