It's not a surprise because Apple has discontinued every previous version of OS X once a new one has been released. The only exception that I'm aware of was 10.6, as it was a prerequisite for 10.7.

Before I left for work Lion was still in my purchased list. Didn't try to download it but if it was pulled how come it is still in my purchase list? (Note: I have not bought ML yet. And yes a real question not a sarcasm statement.)

disappointed there is no Air Play mirroring support for my freaking 2.5k MBP 2010 17
and everywhere "like" buttons, soon we will realise, how life was simpler and nicer without Facebook

Because you previously paid for it and are still entitled to your purchase. Apple can't legally yank a purchased piece of software from you even if obsolete.

However no one can buy it anymore from the MAS. You'll be forwarded to the ML landing page instead.

I'm happy. Very easy first day download/install, and loving notifications. Onward and upward, back to work.

I have a quick question that I hope someone can answer for me. :) I tried searching on Google, but could not find the answer. Does the DM G installation file gets saved to your downloads folder, to the desktop, or somewhere else? Thanks. :)

iTunes

They need to separate iTunes U and make it a dedicated app on OSX just like they did on iOS and create iBooks for OSX

My WishList
1. iBooks for OSX
2. iTunes U App for OSX
3. Bring back iDisk but on iCloud for those that purchased extra storage.

After using 10.8 for 2 weeks, I have to say, glad I didn't pay $19.99.
$20 is that difficult to cough up and justify to you for an OS upgrade? *shakes head*

I believe stukick meant to say this:
After using [Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade] for 2 weeks, I have to say, glad I didn't pay $179.99.

Unless stukick would have rather spent $179.99 for a Vista-to-Win7 upgrade then the $19.99 for the Lion-to-ML upgrade? (I know, it doesn't make sense; unless of course, you'd be a Microsoft fanboy.)

Seriously, though, ML is worth the upgrade value. What cheap bastard would splurge on a Mac but not on a well priced OS upgrade? Admittedly, I too downloaded the GM but saw great value in it worthy of paying for the OS upgrade.

I was wondering about that as well. Apple conveniently hid it in a footnote on their features overview. Unsurprisingly, it depends on iOS 6.

You've answered my question.

I had read (in disbelief) that 10.8.x would not support RSS. A decision I find rather curious, and quite disappointing. I had planned on giving Safari another try, since I haven't used it much lately. But without RSS it's crippled, at least for my usage.

You don't need it. In fact, nobody used the RSS feature on Safari or Mail, and thank god Apple god rid of another junk features that 99.99% of the users don't use.

If you need it, there's an app for that, called Reeder. Check it out.

Mountain lion removed my parallels 6.0. Any idea for a fix to run parallels 6 on mountain lion?

No new ones for me. I figured that they would add a Mountain Lion wallpaper. The old Lion wallpaper is still there. I am upset that my Fliqlo clock screensaver doesn't work anymore.

I concur, my Fliqlo doesnt work either.

So can anyone else chime in about the wallpapers...

And the haters and nitpickers continue to look past this part. For the super low price tag, and relatively rapid development time since Lion, I think this is a worthy refinement of last year's OS.

There are more new OS's coming out the rear end than there are good stuff going in the mouth. Everything is eared towards the gear headz with all those devices, every device has to have the same thing all at the same time = sooooo control freaky yeah?? I don't know anyone who gets much done at all these days with all that stuff in all those gearz?!

I just want simple, i don't want any of the bells n whistles, faces book, reminders, email pop up stuff, I can multi-task just fine without the computer's OS helping me. Stability and speed and take up as little resources as possible please n thanks.

I still cannot believe that I submitted my up to date request this morning and I STILL have not gotten my code.... What's up apple?

My biggest problem is that I can read about all of these new features all day, but I can't find half of them! They're either hidden, so automatic that you don't know it's working, or just otherwise hard to find.

Um, this may have been forgotten in the news today, but Snow Leopard is no longer for sale on Apple website. I repeat, Snow Leopard is no longer for sale. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/software/apple?n=osx

You're right! It's gone!

I think Mountain Lion is one of Apple's best updates. It runs (at least on my mac :D) better than Snow leopard did, and is much more stable than Lion was. I'm really glad I made the purchase and I definitely think it was worth it!
