I was losing the cursor in Macrumors when a certain banner ad was showing - see this thread.

I also lost the cursor on another site (sorry, can't remember which), where the same airline ad was showing.

This happened in Safari 4 and 5, under 10.6.3 and 10.6.4. Also in Firefox IIRC. I've not seen the ad for a while and have not had the problem.

Being in the UK, I've not experienced the ad that Belly-laughs showed in his screenshot.

I'm running 10.5.8 so it's not 10.6 related. I have not had the problem since I emptied the cache (alt+cmd+E), which would have forced a reload of the Flash-banners I suspect caused the issue. Although the same ad was showing, they may have issued new problem free banners in the meantime, they have probably caused issues on other sites too.

Also, I only experienced the missing cursor issue on other sites when the Macrumors front page was open in another tab. Never seen the ad anywhere else.

Well, I'm new in Apple's world, just got my first Mac on last Monday. Wednesday I updated the system (not with the Combo, the other one) as well as my Safari (I don't understand why my MBP came with Safari 4). After the updates I didn't use my computer until last night.

Last night I saw this problem. As far as I can tell, is happening only with Safari, but I will check it tonight again and try some troubleshoot (I work with IT so even the Mac Os being new for me shouldn't be so hard to give it a try).

What I believe is happening is that updating to Safari 5 is causing problem with flash files in cache. But I really can't say for sure until I try it at home.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 (Bluetooth) but is happening when I'm using the trackpad as well.

Cheers,

Well... I tried the proposed solution "delete the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari file" and didn't work. So I went back to Adobe's website and downloaded the Adobe Flash Player and reinstalled again. All good now.

Just to clarify: I don't think this is a Adobe Flash plug-in issue. I reinstalled the same version and it worked.

What I believe is that this is a Safari issue. Starts when you update your Safari. So even if you have the latest Adobe Flash installed, please be aware that after updating your Safari you HAVE to go back to Adobe's website and update the plug-in.

I updated my Adobe Flash Player from Version 10.1 r52 to Version 10.1 r53 and it seems to work.

Download here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

EDIT: If you have the latest version and there are still issues, install it over again.
