Please pay close attention to the following forum rules to avoid an other all out war within this thread.

Instantly Bannable Offenses
Insults. Direct personal insult of another forum member (e.g., "You are an idiot.") and other name-calling. Why? Because this isn't grade school. People should be able to discuss or even dispute other's posts without insulting people. You may dispute somebody's opinion but not attack/flame the person who stated it. There are a lot of other non-direct-personal insults that won't necessary get you banned instantly, but depending on the context/nature may lead to post editing, post deletion, warnings, or time-outs. They include telling people to shut up and being extremely or repeatedly rude or sarcastic. It's not your place to tell other users they are not welcome; if they follow the rules, they are welcome. Bottom line -- don't try to tick off others and don't make discussions unnecessarily personal. If somebody else insults you, report their post; their post does not give you a license to break the rules by returning their insults. Although we do not read Private Messages sent between forum members, the rules for appropriate and inappropriate content apply to them as well.

Hoaxes. Purposely misleading other members to their detriment. Giving advice you know to be incorrect or harmful. Sensationalism.

Trolling. Do not post in order to anger other members or intentionally cause negative reactions. For a given post, this can be a subjective call, but a pattern of such posting or an especially egregious case will get you banned.

I'm curious as to why he doesn't at least acknowledge that the jb will be out soon or if it is a hoax etc. I'm a noob to the scene but I don't understand the harm in it. And yes I know, he owes me nothing, even though I donate... wait.

Because if he set a release date and could not meet it it would be both bad for his reputation and his continence.

If he doesn't set a predefined release date, and releases it a day late, he will still be a god.

jailbreakme.com

now is the 2.0 jb page.

with safari and icab

edit: now i have the yellow button again.

But he was already on his second teaser page with rumors that its close, why put up such a blatant "updating now" teaser if he DOESNT know hes about to release it? Whats the point?

If hes not actually about to release, it comes of as messing with all his followers for no reason. Im still hoping its arriving any hour here though...

2nd teaser page? what do u mean o.o
link plz

No not right now, as in he already had teaser pages up before.

Weeks ago, I cant remember exactly when, he put up an image with a skier and a .pdf file and such that was indicating he had a jailbreak. Thats teaser #1.

Then over a week ago he puts up the image of "its been far too long" with his code comments. Thats teaser #2.

Now he puts up the post it note teaser, teaser #3. I thought it was more an announcement that its about to be up than a teaser that was going to sit there for any significant length of time. Why do it? Again, just on the possibility that he actually doesnt know when he will release yet. He very may well be ready to update any minute. Obviously noone really knows right now.

Have to agree with you, personally I feel he has the Jailbreak ready and he's been drumming up the hype getting everyone talking about over the weekend. It's annoying that he's making us wait for so long but I guess it's up to him if he wants to release it or not. Hopefully it drops within the hour I've had the page on refresh every second since this morning.

He has no obligation to release it, and he certainly has no obligation to set a date which he might or might not be ready for.

ohh i only saw the data file page and the post it..

ive seen the skiing one on other websites..
thx

That's all fine , but why post such a blatant image on the site which clearly hints at a release soon. He's getting the hopes up of his followers for no reason (assuming he doesn't want to release it). If it's not ready or he doesn't want it out why put such a blatant hint up.. ? That's what people are annoyed about.. At the end of the day it's up to him wether he wants to relaese it's or not.

I'm as anxious as anyone to see the jailbreak released, but isn't refreshing the jailbreakme website every second or even minute overkill? Once the JB is released, it's already quite possible the site's performance could come to a crawl...why give the site's server(s) even more reason to crash before the real deal is even released?

Lol, the sites servers are perfectly capable of handling it, plus at the moment there is nothing on the site no harm is done. :)

Just because the site's servers are potentially capable of handling it doesn't mean it's something you should be doing. I'd wager you aren't the only one unnecessarily refreshing every second.... I'm sure there are those who are doing it every half, quarter and tenth second too. DOS attacks are based in overloading a server's ability to handle the traffic. You aren't helping anything and only hurting - even if only to a minute degree. It's all of those combined minute degrees that add up to bigger problems....

This really has almost nothing to do with my post you are replying to. It was about courtesy, not obligation.

Hypothetical courtesy, again it could release any moment. And even if he actively trolled people it obviously wouldn't put much of a dent in his huge contribution to the jailbreak scene, but that doesn't mean its blasphemy to mention it while chatting in a waiting thread.

edit: Though actually, if he is actively accepting donations while teasing a jailbreak release, he does have some obligation to release eventually if its within his ability.
