Movie rentals with iTunes gift card

So with the back to school sale you get a $100 iTunes gift card. My question is when I redeem it in iTunes and I rent a movie on my Apple TV will it use $5 credit from the card or will it charge me $5?

It'll use the credit. Why? The $100 are associated with your account in iTunes.

I usually load the gift card into my iphone with the same itunes account, then anything I use on that same itunes account will debt that credit.
