why is it iTunes keeps removing movies that once listed as 4K and watchable as 4K but now are HD ?

For example these used to be 4K now only show up as HD ....

The Accountant (2016)
Battleship (2012)
Birth of a Nation (2016)
The Bourne Identity (2002)
The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Casion Royale (2006)
Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
The Fate of the Furious (Theatrical/Extended Bundle) (2017)
Fifty Shades of Grey (Unrated) (2015)
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
The Girl on the Train (2016)
Goldfinger (1965)
The Great Wall (2016)
Hidden Figures (2016)
Independence Day (1996)
Jason Bourne (2016)
King Kong (Extended Version) (2005)
Lost City of Z (2017)
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
Moonraker (1979)
Morgan (2016)
The Mummy (2017)
Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008)
Oblivion (2013)
The Perfect Guy (2015)
Princess Bride (1987)
Sing (2016)
Snow White & the Huntsman (extended) (2016)
Song to Song (2017)
Vacation (2015)
Victor Frankenstein (2015)
Wild (2014)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (The Rogue Cut) (2014)

Seems to be a daily change. One day a movie is 4K the next day it’s HD.
[doublepost=1507410929][/doublepost]Just last weekend I watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula and it was 4K Dolby Vision just thinking it’s odd they removed the 4K

A lot of them are Universal titles. They've pulled most or all of their 4k titles (and some never got 4k thought I expected them to, like The Hunger Games).

Yeah, this is BS and why I'll never trust digital content. Free 4K Upgrades was the MAJOR reason for me to buy the stupid box. Feels like a giant bait and switch scam. I know defenders of this will say people who got these upgrades for free can't complain, but what about the people who purchased these titles in iTunes because it was cheaper than the 4K UHDs? How is this legal? This is not a good start and doesn't give me confidence in the future of this box. Unfortunately I'm passed Apple's awful 14 day return policy so I'm stuck with it.

I've said in the past I don't think a lot of these streams are actually in 4K, so I'm hoping they were temporarily pulled just to fix them. But still.... Pretty scummy job by Apple all around. I'm not a Jobs was "god" person, but Apple's quality control has gone downhill since Cooke took over.

It's 4K here. A few films have had faults in the stream, so maybe have been removed temporarily to fix the issue - Arrival for one had problems but is now fixed.

Still HD today here. It was 4K HDR. No problems with Mad Max. The only 2 titles i've bought to test ATV 4K.

Maybe you should contact the iTunes support. Maybe this is related to the latest iCloud and iTunes issues.

Something must be going on. Front page has Blade Runner 4K offer banner, only plays 1080p. Ghost in the Shell is also 1080p again. Hmmm

I usually call them and don't put it on until I get an answer. ;)

They just answered telling me to try, before refunding, to delete the title from the library and to download it again. So, they don't even know that 4K movies can't be downloaded.

Yeah, add Casino Royale and Skyfall to the list... Doubting in getting the Apple TV 4K if my movies are going to be downgraded "magically".

Whoa that’s bs. I bought Independence Day on iTunes because it was 4k and now it’s not? If this keeps happening I’m not going to buy anymore movies on iTunes in fear it won’t be 4k down the road. I’d rather just buy a hard copy.

Has vudu (ultra violet) pulled this stunt?

My guess is they found some issue with the original 4k encodes for these titles. They will probably eventually be 4K HDR again yet. I don't see any reason to start freaking out just yet.

The 4k versions of these fims show a slight improvemnt over their 1080p counterparts, but i still think I'll be picking up a 4k blu ray player for Xmas

You might still only get a slight improvement. Many films are mastered in 2k and then upscaled for their 4k release.
