But rural location will prevent the ability to use OTA.

I would still check out the government OTA coverage list.

Enter your new zip code and it will show you what you theoretically should have access to.

Indoor amplified OTA antennas are usually good for about 35 miles while an externally mounted antenna can be good for even further.

OTA antennas rarely work right away and it can take hours to find the optimal position (it is still worth it).

I will soon be moving so perfect time to try cutting the cord. I have been a Directv customer since 1997. Perfectly happy with it except for the monthly bill. i also have an ATV4k. I am checking all the available streaming services, I want local news and to make sure I don’t miss out on Yellowstone next season. any suggestions for best service?

Have you tried getting any type of loyalty discount from Directv?

The best source for figuring out the best streaming service to downsize to is here at the Streamable.

I have found that no matter where I would go, I would be losing a channels that we like. Playstation Vue (Gone after 1/30/20) offered no History or Comedy Central. ATT Now is missing quite a few channels we watch. In some fashion they all lack something and final cost is not that much lower than Directv.

a while back, around the millennia we moved, made it a positive change. We got rid of of both cable & the tv back the millennia.
all went into a city dumpster. Go figure; the next morning it was all picked through?

The 2 of us sit next to each other with a 15" portable
a wall large screen would be not as 🎀🎀nice.

keep it simple

Hey, if it works for you, God bless you! What exactly do you watch on that 15" portable? Movies from iTunes, or movies and series from Netflix etc?

Hell, even just being stuck to iTunes and Netflix would not work for me because I love sports, especially college football (GO BUCKEYES) and college basketball (GO Tar Heels) and then all the other stuff like NFL, NBA, lots of golf (love The Masters) and obviously the NCAA College Basketball Tournament aka The Big Dance, haha! So yeah, there is that, and then there is the fact that a 15" screen is just too damn small for me unless I am traveling on an airplane or something.

About one week ago I bought the new 55" Samsung Q900 QLED 8K TV...and I love it, however I usually never go over 50" but all they have in this model is 55" and up, and I HATE smart tv software but you cannot buy a TV like this without, so I just do not use, and hook up my ATV4K and use that for most everything...sometimes I play my Xbox One X. Anyway...a lot of people would say I am nuts for spending $2,500 on a TV, however, there is a reason that I bought the 8K version when there is hardly any 8K content available...FUTURE PROOFING! A lot of people are buying 4K TV's right now because they are getting cheaper and there is more 4K content out there, but reasonably soon 8K content will be available more and more and the TV I bought will be able to support it, whereas people with 4K TV's that are techies like me will have to go out and spend more money on a new 8K TV. For most people, the 4K will remain fine, but for some people, and a lot of us on this forum, 8K will be a must have! I mean there are already people on this forum with 5K iMacs, and rumors are that Apple will release a 8K iMac Pro and iMac (seems to be some disagreements about if it will be both or just the iMac Pro) in 2020. Also, I only buy Samsung TV's because I have never had one die on me (knocks on wood, haha!) I have one that is 12-13 years old that is in one of the spare bedrooms and still going strong. Another that is seven years old in the other spare bedroom. The one that just got replaced in the living room is going into my office, and I will use it as a bigger external monitor compared to the monitor I have. So this TV will last me LONG into the future and support upcoming standards. This TV supports AirPlay 2, HDR10+, among a bunch of other crazy technology. Also supports the Apple TV App, which I will never use using the tv's software...but I guess you never know when/if it might come in handy?

So it is not like I just run out and by the best (technically this is not even the best Samsung Q-Series TV - that goes to the Q90R from most all the reviews I read but is 4K) and most expensive TV! Most of the time I try to get the most out of my money, and in this case, as long as the TV lasts like all the other ones I have, it appears I have done that!
