No reason to, buy and sell every year, you will get the newest iphone every year then for about $200-$300..

Well worth it IMO instead of waiting every two years

If you listen to Steve Jobs and it honestly makes the most sense, If you you wait on "what's next" you'll wait forever and you'll never actually own anything. If you wait for the 6S, you might as well wait for the 7, or the 7S. I'm sure both of those are already in R&D anyways.

This.

I don't see the logic. If you do hit an S year and you don't see the need to buy a new one, just wait for the next redesign... otherwise, buy yearly.

I've upgraded every since year since the original. It's just something I do. I enjoy it. I get bored with a phone after a year.

oh yes it can

the 6 is not that much faster than the 5s

The 6S has just GOT to have 2GB of RAM. The i6 is a bit lacklustre for me, just the bigger screen really. Yeah there's iPay and a few tiny tweaks under the hood but aside from the screen it isn't much different to the 5S.

And you actually think the 6S will be? LOL.

"Faster" is regulated by how much power is aboard and until Apple gets off the " look how thin in am" syndrome, speed increases will be very slight.

Umm, what? All the current iPhones are more than fast enough. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are pretty much the fastest phones available anywhere, beating all current Android devices at many tasks.

In fact, on single-core benchmarks, even the (A7) iPhone 5s is faster than any Android device. Only the very latest Android devices, like the Galaxy Note 4, can barely top the iPhone 6 in multi-core benchmarks - but only because they have more cores!

For graphics (GFXBench) and web (Sunspider/Kraken) performance, there is no contest. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are far ahead of any competition, and even the 5s can hold its own against most competitors.

The S cycle can be nice.

- The form factor is perfected, since it has been manufactured for over a year already.

- You have a huge selection of cases and accessories right off the bat, since the form factor has been out for a year now.

On the other hand:

- In a year when the new form factor comes out, you might yearn for the physical improvements it has. For example I bet 5S owners are yearning for the bigger screen right now.

Very true. But also, keep in mind that adopting a "new form factor" model means having to deal with the glitches and imperfections of brand new features.

The S model usually has several features smoothened out, polished, or rectified when it releases.

I agree. Do not know if you did not read my post correctly but I am saying the 6 S will not be that much faster than the 6. Only incremental changes these days, no giant leaps!:)

I always wait two years (cycles) and am currently on the "non-S" cause that's how I started. (4>5>6). Changing now would be waiting too long lol.

I am on the every release cycle :p Seriously, I don't understand people who wait 2 years, it ends up costing roughly the same if you sell your 1 year old phone to fund the new phone each year. After 2 years, the phone is almost worth nothing. I sold my 5S for $455.00, my 5 for $575.00, my 4S for $550.00. You get the point.

That is what I try to do to. The initial cost of buying an iphone outright hurts, but each year it cost around ~$120 to have a new phone or $10 a month.

Enjoy your wait.

With the 3GS and 4S I knew the S versions were a noticeable improvement. But the 5 and 5s are pretty similar. I would have agreed that the non-S models are often the better choice, until Apple released the 6 with very similar specs as the 5s. (Except for the bigger screen) Because now the 6 Plus already has performance issues at launch.

The iPad Air 2 released a month later with it's A8x chip is already much more powerful than the rest of the iOS devices. (Even the 6) If the iPhone 6S/+ is even close to that powerful or better with the A9 chip then it would be worth the wait.

I always buy my products around this time. I bought the iPhone 4 a few days after it came out (no issues), the iPhone 5 a few months after it came out and now the iPhone 6 like 2 weeks after release. So far I've had no issues at all.

Thats not what I was saying... I'm saying there will always been a new better thing soon

I'm not waiting, I'm just bringing up reasons why someone might prefer to wait.

The iPhone 6 is fine, it's the Plus I'm not sure about.

I have had the 6 from day one, but just was able to pick up the 6+ at the Apple store. Restoring it now and hope I will get along with it.

The 6+ screen is gorgeous! I thought it would be even bigger. Will take a while to get used to it.

What wait? I live a gen or two behind the leading tech. Splurged and got myself a used 5s from a 4s not too long ago

However, geek bench fwiw, has the 5s and 6 perform nearly identical

To me the next number cycle represent a bigger change than the s cycle. Bugs if exists don't affect me significantly, so I prefer the next number cycle than the s cycle.

I prefer to be on the non S cycle. I had the 3g then the 4. Last year I got the 5S. Amongst other things I disliked being on the S cycle. Tomorrow I'm going to get the 6 plus #. So I'll be on the right cycle again.

I went from the original iPhone --> iPhone 4 --> iPhone 5. The iPhone 6 did not offer me enough of a delta to justify spending hundreds of dollars. I'll wait until the 6s, or even the 7 to see if the delta is worth my hard earned money.

With all my phones (and other electronics/ cars/ houses) - I am not on any "cycle". I buy what I perceive is the best value and keep using it until it stops performing the functions I want. There will always be something faster and shinier; but trying to keep up with the consumer Jones'es is a sure shot way to get into trouble.
