oh yeah, and if anyone asks where you went to school, they mean high school. If you tell them you didn't go to high school here, they likely will have nothing further to talk to you about. You'll see. It cracks me up, I have a JD but people only care about what high school you went to.

Moving to Louisville, KY. What should I know?

+1 AND we have the best tasting tap water in the U.S.! 😀
SO very true. I went to an unknown private school in Louisville and when people ask where I went, I tell them and they get confused and things are awkward afterwards. They're expecting you to name a big shot public/private high school, like Male, Manual, St. X or Trinity.
Also if you're staying in Louisville for the summer and people ask where you are going for the summer, tell them "L.A." (Louisville Area). Some people will get it without telling them the acronym.

hell, I got 20% off having a car bumper painted last week cause the guy saw my Trinity sticker.
haha wow. Ok, well, I already get shunned when I tell people where I went to HS here (at UIUC in Illinois) because it was known as a stuck up snobby school and almost everyone I know is from the chicago suburbs who goes here... so they all know about it. 🙁
so at least in KY no one will know about it being like that... so i guess that's at least a good thing.
As far as tap water goes... it's good to know I won't be downgrading 🙂 Champaign county (where i've been the last 5 years at school) won in 2005 and 2006 and has been in the top 10 for the last few years in many a water competition hehe. So that's nice to know! 🙂
And ... I don't have any relatives in Kentucky, so I think the cousin thing is ok, not to mention all my cousins have about 20 years on me, since my mom was much older when she had me. haha
so at least in KY no one will know about it being like that... so i guess that's at least a good thing.

Also thinking of moving to the area...
So we have lived all over the country and we say soda pop, not one or the other. When we lived in GA all soft drinks were Cokes too. When we said soda people had no idea what we were saying and a few people though we meant light beer if we said soft drinks!
Now we live in WI and people here have bubblers (water drinking fountains), in the West we called them water coolers.
Westerners have many local slang too that would seem out of place in the mid west or south. But don't get me started on the deferences from when we lived in Southern California vs Northern California!
So we are adults, not college young adults, we've raised our kids who are all in college and looking for a house that is not in the burbs, we'd rather have open spaces around us, water, and peace. We like to go to the city, do the city thing and then leave rather than be living in the middle of it, we've done enough of that already.
So any advice for a Life long Mac guy to look, working between Louisville and Shepherdsville? At least I think thats the area.

St. Louis is the exact same way.
Everytime I've driven through Louisville, I've noticed that the drivers do 20 under the speed limit, so I suppose you could learn to drive like an old fart 😛

really? That's not my general experience. usually everyone is 15-20 over. Southern Indiana will be 20 under, just because the state police are aggressive on the interstate.
