Stoked about what this could mean for Arc on iOS. A better chromium based browser for sure!

It took them 2 years to update the macOS after Apple changed the spec in Big Sur, but this is a priority for Mozilla. Go figure!

If Apple allows third-party web browser engines on iOS then I foresee websites starting to drop Safari support entirely -- I already see the "unsupported browser" warning on macOS for several websites.

Perhaps Apple will be adopting Blink for Safari as well rather than try to keep a horse in the Browser War race -- seems like a waste of time for Apple -- so long as they can get the battery usage and performance they want out of Blink (which is based on WebKit anyway).

Let the lord be praised! I doubt it'll be on par as the Android version but it's a step forward. I'll be finally able to live in the 21st century and have my navigation history synced on the phone and the computer.

(I use Safari on mobile and Firefox everywhere else)

If they could just get the macOS browser variant to stop going erratic (requiring process kill or micorsoftian-style reboot), that would be even more spectacular!

If then means uBlock Origin (and other FF add-ons) on iOS... LET's GO!
This is the real benefit right here. Would be awesome if they gave these plugins access to safari again too, but I won’t get my hopes up too high. Being able to shut down unwanted scripts from loading on web pages is a godsend. Currently use 1blocker on Safari iOS/Mac, but I love uBlock Chrome/FF

this has always been such a bizarre rule to me -- if everything is sandboxed, the browser engine shouldn't matter
They did it so their own browser wouldn't be outshined. They can only add so many features/would never truly be faster than Safari when it had to run the same engine.

Contrary to popular opinion, I like Chrome and would love to see Chrome extensions, such as uBlock and Dark Reader, on iOS. Would love to just use Chrome throughout my iOS devices.

And no, I hardly care about this “privacy” thing people keep going on about. And no, in my personal usage, I hardly ever see this crazy RAM and battery usage compared to earlier years of Chrome.

I really don't think that there would be enough screen real estate on a phone for Arc. It takes up a sizable amount of space on my Mac Book with the side panel.

Does the Firefox browser for iOS not sync your navigation history? I am pretty sure the Chrome browser for iOS does that.

I think it does, but I can't stand to use Firefox for iOS. Why do they have to open the keyboard everytime I open a new tab?
