Acid3 (http://acid3.acidtests.org/) test scores:

Safari 5.0.5: 100/100
Chrome 12.0.742.100: 100/100
Firefox 5.0: 97/100

97/100 ain't that bad. I'm sure they'll work out the remaining issues soon enough. That being said, I am sticking with Chrome and Safari because of their much smaller title/tabs/address/bookmarks bar. All three browsers are fast enough for my needs.

Acid test really does not mean much over all. Way to many browsers cheat so to speak to score hire on the test so they can claim 100/100. It is a base line but once the score gets over 80-90 to me is the same as a 100 since it is way to easy to cheat the system.

http://www.apple.com/mac/ doesn't work properly for me either, however if I change Firefox's user agent to Safari then it looks fine.

I'm guessing Apple are presenting different code depending on the browser due to differences in the standards supported.
The error console spits out errors about stuff like -moz-transition which implies Apple's site is using some specific Mozilla tags that are now deprecated. This is an Apple issue, not a Mozilla issue.

Btw, using benchmarks for webbrowsers is stupid since every benchmark has a completely different result. The benchmarks are very new and need to mature a lot. Use them with a very big grain of salt!

Using ACID tests means knowing what they test. Most people do not know this. ACID tests only test what browsers do when things go wrong, when a site does not follow the standards. Therefore ACID tests say absolutely nothing about how standards compliant a browser is!

Don't see a difference yet

I use Firefox as my browser at work. I upgraded from Ff4 to Ff5 and I have not yet found any real difference yet between the two.

Stopped using FF after my MBP's fan kept kicking into high gear when I watch YouTube vids. Too much of a resource hog.

I'll just stick with Chrome. Chrome 12 updated its Flash capabilites so now I can go on any website with no problem. :)

You do know that the two browsers use the same Flash plugin, right?

the initial Firefox 4 release was pretty good, quick and responsive. However on my Mac Pro and MBP Firefox 5 is just clunky and slow. Back to Chromium I go. :D

Firefox 7 (Nightly builds) Rocks!

Firefox 3 was a piece of junk for me.

Firefox 4 it's a huge improvement over Firefox 3, I switched from Chrome to Firefox 4 instantly.

Now I use Firefox 7 nightly builds, and I can say that it's very stable and very fast.

I have tried the latest dev v14 of chrome but I can't stand it as a browser plus I get too many crashes.

Firefox 7 Nightly it's a 100% kick ass browser.

Firefox 5 is acting weird when using the 330 GT chip. It pauses for a second then resumes, like skipping.

When typing, I type a sentence in which it'll freeze, then resume typing, same with scrolling.

I was having an issue when app-switching from other programs back to FF5 where FF would freeze and not scroll or display content. I had to turn off the hardware acceleration option in Preferences > Advanced -- and so far, it seems to have resolved itself.

But it doesn't do that with the Intel chip.

I've updated mine, can't say I really noticed the difference. I'm not sure why this isn't a 4.x version rather than going to 5.

I really prefer Safari on the Mac anyway, FF5 on my xp pc at work though..

There aren't very many user-facing changes in Firefox 5 - that's why you don't notice anything different.

That's my point, so why isn't this FF4.x? A version number change usually means something more significant, as the jump from 3 to 4 shows

Because they are going the Chrome route in wanting to toss out 3-4 major version bumps a year now. I believe they plan to have Firefox 7 out before Christmas.

I really wish we could get a browser that combines all the greatness from Safari, Chrome, Opera, etc. I stay with Firefox most of the time because I make extensive use of the bookmark tags feature and I love the ability to turn all third party cookies into session cookies, meaning no websites are broken but I'm still not tracked for more than an hour. But as far as speed, page rendering, etc, Safari and Chrome are both slightly better. Plus I'm sure Safari will be able to do things with Lion that Firefox never will. I'm using Safari more these days, but still only about 25% of the time.

Anyone, sorry to go off topic.
