Problem Fixed!

As one of the original posters noting this problem, I can also confirm (as has been confirmed a few posts prior to this one) that the problem appears to have been fixed. I had given up on trying all the suggested "fixes" and was content just to deal with this annoyance until Apple addressed it themselves. I now note that since upgrading to the latest iTunes, the problem with Finder is now gone. I can see the icons in Finder, and using the preview brings up the album art as well. I did nothing more than upgrade to iTunes so hopefully everyone else will have the same results. It's good to have things working as they used to.

iTunes does not always fix the issue

Actually, as per the suggestions on the thread, I tried installing the latest version of iTunes but that did not resolve the issue so I can't say that the Apple devs have completely fixed the bug.

Anyways, hopes these posts help someone out. Spent the better half of an afternoon tracking down a way to get these icons to show up!

I upgraded to Lion. I just bought a song on iTunes, and the cover art shows up in Finder, but I just imported some songs on my own, and made sure I copy and pasted the artwork manually to make sure it copied to the file, but it did not. Anyone else having this issue?

I just upgraded to OS X Lion 10.7 I don't believe there were any problems until I performed this upgrade. Loving Lion, but bummed about the cover art issue again. I had hoped that problem was a distant memory.

Once again, cover art previews are not displaying correctly in the finder. All embedded art displays correctly in iTunes though.

My guess is that the cover art has been embedded and you just aren't seeing the correct preview in the finder. Does the art display in iTunes?

Damn! Updated to iTunes 10.4 on Snow Leopard and I also have this issue. Never had this before. Added some songs to my music library and added manually artwork to them. Everything shows fine in iTunes, but the artwork doesn't show up in the Finder... A bit annoying
VLC shows the artwork so I'm sure it's embedded in the files.

Same thing happened to me, i used to add songs to iTunes, and then add the art work from a file in my desktop, create an mp3 version of it using iTunes, and the artwork would show up in finder once the new file was created, but now, running OS X 10.7 and iTunes 10.4(80), no artwork shows in finder, i can see the cover art in iTunes, but not in finder, really annoying!!!!

Same Issue. Is this definitely caused by the itunes update then? Can anyone post the previous version of itunes somewhere?
Thanks

It's not as simple just as downgrading iTunes unfortunately. It didn't work for me, I had to restore the system from backup.

Since I hate things not working properly, I clean install Lion, again, and I did not update to iTunes 10.4, I have iTunes 10.3.1, I can see all the artwork and create new mp3 and the artwork shows, so, the problem must be in iTunes somehow, not in finder, I'll just update to iTunes 10.XXXX when the problem gets fixed.

On another note, iTunes 10 has fixed this issue. Yay! :)

iTunes 10.0 fixed the problem last time around which was last year sometime. iTunes 10.4 broke it again. Only thing to do is send a bug report to Apple and wait for an update.

thanks for the response...boy this is annoying...would it help to backup my MacBookPro disk to an external drive and clean install w/the OS disk that came with the computer? thnaks again...

It helps, that's what i did, clean install Lion but do not upgrade to iTunes 10.4, that way you can see all your artwork.

That's kid of a pain in the ass, but if I gotta then I gotta....backup files and clean install here I come...

I have to say though since switching to Mac, this is the first time I've been truly dissapointed with Apple...I mean in comparison to other bugs this should have been fixed asap!

Update 104.1 fixes this issue, lets download it and see if it works...

Apple’s release notes are as follows:

iTunes 10.4.1 provides a number of improvements, including:

- Fixes a problem where the media keys on some third-party keyboards work inconsistently with iTunes
- Addresses issues with adding artwork to songs and videos

Yeah, I just tried out, I selected a song, created an mp3 version of it, and the album artwork didn't embed the cover art, 10.3 was working great for me, if only apple hadn't stated that it fixed the album art problem i would never updated to 10.4.1, *****.

Sorry all for that, so, do not update to 10.4.1, it doesn't fix the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!
