i am 100% sure there are 17" MBPs with 1.5 issue...

There shouldn't be. The mother/logic board remained the same. In addition, no 17" users have reported such an issue.

EDIT: I will be at an Apple Store tomorrow morning picking up two new notebooks. I could check all those on display???

Not wrong, but it was amended. As oppose to all 15" MBP's having a 3.0Gb/s, it's now split depending on your HD model.

I've seen no proof at all that any 15" have 3Gb Sata. They certainly don't if you put in your own SSD. Since the 13" and 15" seem to be sharing the same logic board design now I think it's not rational to claim this unless you have some proof.
